Slightly off-topic, but konigstiger, I assume you lost your airbags with the installation of the those seats?

Cheers,

No, this is really the reason we went with these seats, they are the Euro BMW Performance seats with airbags and of course with some modifications. The weight savings is not as much as it would be otherwise but we saved sufficient weight in other areas and I was unwilling to forgo the airbag safety feature.

Konig,

Yes, you retain your side airbags which are now located in the seat from previous generation 3-series. However, I'm sure what he meant specifically was about the passenger FRONT airbag.

With these seats, unless you have a euro-spec car, you will lose the functionality of your front passenger airbag, as the seat sensor system is incompatible.

I have not seen any systems, products or vendors that have been able to fix this problem. Solutions such as the Macht Schnell emulator merely disable the front airbag and remove the warning light.

If this is not the case, which I'm hopeful, any additional information would really be appreciated.

The reason I ask is that I see they are the Euro BMW Performance seats but others who have installed them lost their passenger side front airbag......are you saying that the side airbags on the seats themselves as well as the front airbag for the passenger and driver all work?

Cheers,

Since the seats were changed, the seat airbags as well as the dashboard airbag would be inoperable. All other airbags (including side curtain) would be functional.

There may be a way to get everything working with coding, but will need the vehicle present in our facility for a couple of days.

No offense Tom, but my bet is if the car sat at your facility for a year you wouldn't be able to find/fix the coding.

Cheers,

Has to arrive here first to arrive at that decision. We've done a lot of things in the past others thought weren't possible.

However getting a read from the vehicle is the first step.

Tom - Doesn't your development Silver Gray M3 have Pole Positions? Can't you use that vehicle to read the codes that you need to develop a solution that will allow the passenger air bag to continue to function? If you figure out a solution to that, trust me, you will be selling a lot more sets of Recaros.

Konig - Looking forward to any additional information you may have.

It's possible - but we will not code out the car as its used for testing for other purposes that requires a 100% stock system for accurate results.

We're using the MS module at the moment to avoid error lamps.

Yes, that is correct, but this is a Euro car and that may have something to do with it.

Well, these are the BMW Performance seats intended to work properly on a Euro M3 or any E90´s for that matter. The fact that my car is Euro may have something to do with it. But airbags work.

BASTARD

Just jealous, not actually calling you a bastard How did you get one? Don't you live in the states? Ah, maybe you work for a foreign government living in D.C. as I think I remember you stating something about your car being shipped back to "area of State" or something like that?

Cheers,

Hahaha!!! I actually live in Mexico City most of the year, this is where I have most of my cars as well. All BMW and Mercedes vehicles sold in Mexico are European versions rather than North American. There are a number of differences such as seats, coding, front bumper and sensors, cam shafts, etc... These may be an advantage but also we pay more for these cars, an E92 6MT M3 lists for US$90,000.

Yeah, I bought another Ducati 1098 same bike I have here and left it at my house in D.F and it lists for $35k which is stupid but I wanted it.

Only inexpensive cars in Mexico City are cars that are built or assembled there like Jettas (Bora's) GLI's some Seats etc etc

Yea, well, if you really consider it, its not so bad, Europe and the UK have prices slightly above Mexico City, around US$100K for an M3 and places like Singapore? Forget it, an M3 is somewhere around $200 grand!!! lol!
