ATTN NEW YORKERS!!! Need to find a good shop for alignment!!!!

I live in queens, therefore anywhere near tristate would be great. Can you guys reccommend a shop to me who can do a great wheel alignment? Will be dropping the car tom therefore need to do this. I know many shops do it, but a good wheel alignment is essentialo and most shops have no clue. Sooooo, where do u guys suggest I go...

Imported Cars of Stamford in CT has an ex-Ferrari tech. He's a good guy, technically and personally, but their alignment machine is a bit outdated. To be honest, I would rather trust offical BMW sources, i.e. your dealer since they have the offical alignment procedures and specs. Just don't be polite, know the facts, and make sure they are not BSing you.

You dropped your car right? I believe that the front cambers will be more negative than BMW suggests, by about 0.1-0.2 degrees, but that's ok, just more wear on the tires. Rears should be within spec even after the drop.

Last word of wisdom: TEST DRIVE BEFORE YOU PAY!

My car will be dropped tom and i will post some pics. I will ait about two weeks to do the alignment.

So wait, if by dropping the car the fronts will be a bit more negative and the rears within specs, whats the point in aligning it? Arent our cambers not able to be aligned in the frist place? Unless we get the camber plates. Or are they able to play with the toe and camber a bit? I prefer more negative since its better for handling at the cost of a bit more wear, but whatever.

When your suspension is compressed (i.e. lowering your car) the geometry changes, which would mess up the toe of the wheels. Also due to variation, two identical springs may have different heights, spring rates, etc, so the camber on left and right may not become exactly the same.

No I understand that, and know that, but what im saying is, from what I know, camber and toe are not adjustable on our cars. Or are they?

Of course they are... it's just that the camber adjustment is limited. otherwise what's the point of an alignment.

When getting the alignment, can I have them dial in the camber a bit more negative for better handling, but leaving the toe to spec or not?
