CEL question

I just had a quick question concerning the CEL light that comes on. Is it just a warning light that doesn't impact the engine or car at all? or does it detune the car?

Wrong section and search come to mind first, but I'll bite.

What kind of CEL are you referring to? Caused by what?

I'm assuming he means if he goes catless or a HFC set up

i have been running my HFC 200CPI with a cel light on for 1 week and no limp mode...

i know some people that had remove the cat had limp mode but i dont think that will cause the problem. i have been reading several thread about it and no one can really determine what is causing it.

HOPE someone had this issue can chime in... i wonder after a cat delete and got them a limp mode what did they do to fix it. it usually cause by something else. not CAT DELETE

CEL's are generally harmless, I've run several track events with them on with no loss in power. Limp mode is a different thing.

If your exhaust system and air intake system is STOCK( no modifications) and you have a CEL then go to the dealership and have them fix your ride.

No, I don't have a CEL yet. I am just doing research before I install an aftermarket exhaust and was curious as to what would happen if I just leave the CEL light on.
