Calcium waterspots caked on paint?

If left on too long will it burn into your clearcoat and leave those etchings on for life?

I once had a black car that had some waterspots on it after a wash cuz I left it in the sun too long and they stayed on my car forever. Could never get them off.

Does waterspouts really stay on forever? How to get them off. I hate discovering waterspots on my car after I wash and dry it.

So hard to see on AW

you need to either chemically remove, or mechanically remove them. They are not forever by any means

you can try vinegar to break it down and remove the minerals in the water, or use a water spot remover if they are really bad.

then you can sometimes use a chemical cleaner wax like meguiars #66 to remove the "etching" (very light), or you might have to compound them away (more aggressive). Of course one would have to be there to figure it out as its a case by case situation/solution, or you might have to go as far as wetsanding...

But no, they are not necessarily "forever in the paint"

Would vinegar ruin my clearcoat? Or rub it away? I'm afraid of this

Vinegar won't harm your clear coat or paint.

Vinegar diluted with distilled water is a common remedy to remove light water marks. It's probably the least aggressive method. Give it a shot - if the marks still remain, it means you have a much more worse case of the water marks/etching which will require more aggressive methods as mentioned by Envious Eric.
