I want my trunk to open like a 5 series

Doubt it's possible, but I really cant understand why BMW made some cars with such useful trunk features, and then made some without. On the 5 series when your press the trunk button the key, it doesnt just unlock, the whole trunklid opens for you. Is it possible for the M3 to do that?

EDIT: maybe even something like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...v=JGa32ARnY9c#!

meh, for what the car the is for, a luxury trunk opener would seem overkill or out of place. That stuff belongs on heavy, luxury liners like the 7 series etc.

Also, no, it's not possible from an OEM state. Maybe some custom work could be made to make it work, but you'd spend a bit of money.

Keep in mind the M3 is as spiffed up 3 series, and the 3 series won't have all the options/features that a 5 does.

The E9x "new" style gas-tube trunk hinges are not designed to lift the trunk weight. The F-chassis models use the "old" style spring-loaded hinges that can support the trunk lid weight so it does open wide just by unlocking.

F30 has that feature, but not electronic, it just opens up by itself.

I did miss this option until I closed the trunk, got in the car and then started it up. I also miss the bigger trunk but if I carried that much, I would have kept the E60/bought F10(then it would shut itself)
