your'e point was good but my point is that back in the days when cars had not much hp and less problem putting that power to the ground (when a fast car was doing 6.5 on the 0-60) ,there was less margin of error , in those days 0-60 meant a lot more then now that a 300hp STI can do the same 0-60 then a 414hp M3 or a GT-R as a Veyron or even a stock S4 doing the same 0-60 then a 550hp CTS-V that would've spinned too much on the launch !What I mean is that in one article you can have the M3 doing a 0-60 in 4.1 and in the other in 4.8 , depending on how much traction they had and how well they drove . You did'nt had that problem when a Ferrari had 250hp , now it's alot more about the driver then the car , almost the same for 1/4 mile time , the best references for performance for me are 1/4 mile trap speed and things like 30-130mph !

The new 335i F30 has been tested at 0-60 in 4.7s. Also offers DCT. What is M-owners' take on this considering that the 2012 M3 also does around the same (4.4s?) ...

I don't want to be on par with performance after spending 70 grand ... BMW advertises 5.5+ seconds on the F30 335i, but seems not to be the case ... Confused.

I hope the M3 thrashes the F30 335i on handling ...
BMW is pretty conservative with their 0-60 times. I believe they have been tested quicker by some of the large magazines.

4.4 is a bad time for the M3, 6MTs have been clocked to 60 in 4.1 and the DCT M3 in 3.9.

After 60mph its a whole different game.

agreed, it's a point of time and location for reference, useful, but doesn't tell the full story.

I owned a tuned 335i......and I don't care what the 0-62 times are or anything else, having driven them both, there is no comparison. Not even a comparison between my old N54 powered e92 335i and the 05' / 06' e46 ///M3, the ///M just is SO different, in feel, feedback and just about everything.

Forget the numbers, two different worlds.....and that is no disrespect to the non-///M BMWs, which are still sick.....

Cheers,

You will have a car that will smoke an M3 at 1/3rd the cost.

Just decide how fast is fast enough for you. After you have made that decision, look at other aspects of the car.
Well said...

i always figured that the new 335i would come out and probably hang with or walk my M3. if not straight from the showroom floor, at least after the tuners got their hands on it.

but the F30 can't outrun ugly
