The reason all 111 of these cars will sell on day one, is because Chinese are Crazy about brand names especialy when its made in limited numbers just for their market. Their mentality is very diferent compared to average US person.
Yes what we buy comes from there.. but you forget most people (US or China or Eur) don't know much about modding in general, that was the point I was trying to make.

You got the mentality down for sure

You can see the justification, can you live with the price????

exactly, Chinese people are born with fervent inclination towards luxurious products. They would shop Louis Vuitton and Hermes like a sales event in Walmart.

As an American, I'm starting to feel a bit alienated by BMW that we have not even one special edition. I guess we're yesterday's news and there's no need to win over buyers since we already buy so many BMW's...

on the dash it says "one of 111", so is the last one going to have "one hundred eleven of 111" on the dash?

Everyone has gotta realize cars are typically around twice as expensive in Asia than they are here. Honda Accords can get around $75k USD there. So 180k lets say for 80k car here isn't nearly as bad seeing that cars are already twice as expensive with a premium for a limited edition. Hope that made sense...I'm out of it O_o

I know Americans would gladly pay for a legitimate special edition if one was released.
I saw a guy purchase a 1M for $10K over STICKER just to secure one off of a showroom floor.

I think BMW is hesitant with these special editions in the U.S. (similarly to their own German market) because American & German buyers are more discerning about what is really "special." We're not just going to jump at a special "decal" edition, especially if the main thrust of all of these special editions are cosmetic... If all you want is a cosmetic upgrade, you're better off just using the $20K towards personalizing your M through the Individual department.
Good point!!! I agree with your comment.

I think it's ugly, bit tasteless. I love the M3, but I prefer a normal M3 in a nice color combo, has more style imo. Not feeling those special editions.

They should just make it out of FRP and sell it as CF. Thus, getting back at the Chinese for all the counterfeit products they make. lol

BMW could give a crap what north americans think relative to the rest of the world, we are the worst margins for them in terms of profit. if we were willing to pay more for a vehicle then they would make special products, simple.
if you were manufacturing and selling cell phones for example, would you make a special one-off product for the people that always wanted a bargain and made you the least money, or would you reward the customers that made you buttloads of money and bought everything you made regardless the price?
