Oddly, the greenhouse looks taller and the black wheels make the car look like it's sitting up higher. Weird.

I'm not saying it looks bad, just something I noticed.

How did you get a reflector delete for $120?

Look at post #6; explained it there .

Oh no. Had them professionally powdercoated semi-gloss black. Cost me $500 for all 4 wheels, plus $150 for removing/remounting tires and rebalancing. Make sure the strip that keeps the wheel from moving (the 'hubcentric' part) is not coated. Had to scrape it off, and wasn't fun.

That's probably the camera angle, but that could be the case too. The wheel gap in the front, however, is very real, black wheels or not. There's no question car would look better dropped, but I've never dropped my cars (and never will, especially with EDC). Besides, it's already low enough for this area. There're many places I can't get to due to steep entrances.
My disappointment is front gap is huge compared to rear, and shouldn't be the case. All previous BMWs were not like that. In fact, that's one of the things I've always liked about BMWs: their small factory fender gap. And now that I buy one of its sportiest models, it has a truck-like gap in the front . And thanks for your point of view . I want folks considering this color and/or mods to have points of view I never had. Take care.

I'm issuing a minority opinion and saying I don't care for the black wheels, I prefer the original look. Just my opinion.

On the other hand, the color looks great (much better than my crappy camera can portray) on this car, and after the 'testosterone injection', I have zero regrets of buying it. My first choice was white, but this one (2nd choice) came up. White is everywhere, plus this color hides dirt way better, and it's almost as light. Hope this helps.
Ouch on the baby blue. I've been trying to find one in the area to see in person buy haven't been successful. Well, at least my wife likes the color.

I hear you man. It was like a 52/48 decision for me . And honestly, I only did it because I scratched my wheels during my 'incident', and got paid by the insurance to fix them. It was the same price for factory finish or PC. To actually pay for the black PC job, you have to be a little more committed than I was . It was like putting the car on steroids (more on that below).

Let's get real here: ALL light colors are going to range from unisex (white and silver), to downright girly (most pastel colors). In the middle of that range (metrosexual? ) I'd put SSII (aka 'baby blue' ) and beige, among others. Nobody here has a problem with white or silver being solid unisex colors (most still at least change grilles to black to tilt the meter more towards 'male'), while SSII could be considered, hmmmm, uncomfortably close to girly to some of us. And that only means it needs some help to define its 'sexuality' . And that can be as easy as a simple grille swap, but now that black inserts are standard, black grille surrounds make little difference. Yes, going to black wheels is the equivalent of doing steroids , but you can't just do one. Anyway, since the name 'SILVERstone metallic' is misleading to me, just wanted to point out this color is more blue than silver to me, but barely. Using the same analogy above, probably 48/52 silver/blue. It's a beautiful color, and looks really nice on this car. Yes, it might look more silver in direct sunlight, but to me, the blue hue is always there. What I want to achieve with this thread is this: if you're considering SSII, LOOK AT IT FIRST! And on the flesh! That's it. Then make your own judgment. Most of you will agree with me that it's a beautiful color, but needs some, ahem, help . That help can be just black grilles, black gills, black tips, tint, black wheels, or any combination of the above. Now that you saw my car at basically those extremes, you can make the call what YOU would like to change.

Okay, you want a celebrity analogy, right? Here it is then. A stock SSII is like David Spade. My car like Bruce Willis. If you add a drop, wider wheels/tires, blacked out gills, etc., Silvester Stallone. To women, the order would be the opposite: from Megan Fox, to Rosie O'Donnell, to Lady Gaga . Just having fun gang... while doing a public service to folks who are thinking of owning (or already own) this color. Take care folks.

Thanks, man. In my mind, this has been exactly what I've been thinking: SSII, CF roof and black rims. I've configured it on Tire Rack and been impressed. But, seeing yours really puts things in perspective. I think the CF roof adds more contrast, though.
