Question Will e9X M3 Get 4.4L In Its Life Cycle?

do you guys think near the end of the e9x life cycle, we can get the 4.4L as a factory option or even the basic 4.0L engine with a power increase?

will the m3 go out with a bang or is the bang already shown with the competition package that came out?

Don't be 99% sure - be 100%!

The M3 is finished after the 2012 MY I believe, and so why would they bump displacement for 1 year's production? They can not update the same car to be MUCH better than the previous SAME versions. I understand minor LCI changes, but this would be way too major to be done, and would also make the GTS even less worth it, because then someone really would not need to do much to make a stock M3 like the GTS!

Maybe not new engine but intake and exahust upgrade for Clubsport package, as the M1 is coming in spring 2011 (as MY 2012).
The new 3 Series Sedan and Wagon come in 2012, 3 Coupé and Convertible in 2013 and the new M3 in 2014. So yet a long time to wait.

Nope. I would actually hope for a lighter car keeping the current S65 rather than increasing displacement. But I doubt even that would happen.

Cheers.

There's no way the M3 will receive a displacement bump. Besides encroaching on the GTS buyers who paid big money for the exclusivity of the 4.4 L engine, the more stringent CAFE (mileage) standards on the horizon will drive the the next gen M3 to a smaller displacement turbo engine. Although the next gen M3 will certainly be higher performing than the current gen M3, the days of the V8 are numbered, with zero chance of a larger displacement engine in the future.

Did they do it with the E46?

No.

So why would they offer it on the E9?.

They did do it with the E36 M3 though. It started out with a 3L engine then a couple or so years later it had a 3.2 L engine. Still, this is no reason to suspect that they'll do it with the E9x, especially with all the talk of going to smaller engine in the future to meet new regs.

Cheers.

When is the official last date for production of the E9x M3? What would be the chances of getting the last one off the line. With all documented paper work etc...

The argument _why_ they would do it is because the M1 is nipping at its heels, and someone who supposedly knows inside info (I think he works for BMW) posted on the 1 forum saying the M3 would get some sort of bump. I don't remember the exact details....there was a thread somewhere.

Aside from that, I vote no, because if they do I will kick myself for missing it. Exhaust and intake I can live with, because I can do those after market.
