It's normal for a mediocre tint job. Get a guy who knows what he's doing and you won't see that.

Sorry for the bad image, but you can see how perfect the tint covers the matrix up and down the edges of my back window.

I did my window tint last weekend. You can either sand it down or use black vinyl. I end up using vinyl because it's the easiest way and it turned out great

Just had mine tinted, my guy uses vinyl for the matrix. He said that it is really the best way to go, if it wasn't he wouldn't do it. He's been tinting for years and has a great rep on the net, lazy he is not.
He's tinted a bunch of my cars, friends and coworkers....all perfect. |

yeah if your tint looks like that you got a poor quality tint job. I got mine done at song tint masters in Los Angeles through a group buy on M-fest. After they finish putting on the tint they ask you to wait two weeks for the tint to fully dry and they use this silicone spatula tool to press down the dot matrices that are hard to reach by hand.

I've got the crappy looking dot matrix look after a tint and I'm going back to ask them to redo it with a black vinyl strip covering the dot matrix.
For you guys who had that done, it sounds like the shop just needs to cut a strip of black vinyl which covers the entire dot matrix section, then just apply tint as usual? Does the tint cover the backside of the vinyl or is the tint cut so that it comes right up to the edge of the black vinyl? Thanks. If the shop I used don't know how to do this properly, anyone have recommendation in LA/SoCal for a shop that knows how to do this vinyl thing exactly and can do it without removing my rear glass tint completely? Thanks, that looks great. Do you remember if they cut the tint film right up to the edge of the black vinyl, or simply overlayed over the back of the vinyl strip?
