How many miles do you have that you have worn out a guibo and CSB? I understand the diff mounts are a weak point, but had not read the rest were problems.

What you should do is inspect said items and see if they actually need replacing. Try and at least localize the sound. Each of those items make a noise under different circumstances.

If you are getting clunking, something is wrong. The only things I have read about that have gone are motor mounts and diff mounts, with diff mounts being the more likely. Check the diff mount bolts.

I've had clunking from day 1 for 80k miles so Id have no clue when pathological clunking occurs!

M clunking is normal drivetrain lash. Even the manual states it. I wouldn't start changing parts just yet.

I assumed the OP did not have a clunking and then a clunking began. If so, I would look for a problem. If the car has clunked from Day One, that would be different.

i can hear the clunk under load when shifting at high rpm. in my e46 m3 i changed out the center support bearing and guibo and it went away. i just thought it was the same for the e90 m3.
