Couldn't resist, on the way back from shopping today, swung by the dealership. 2 2008 M5's in stock, 6k off list on the tags hanging from the mirror. I remember when an officemate paid 8k over list a few years ago for his. What sad times for America, we can't even buy a BMW without them subsidizing us with leases, low interest, and discounts. Hope the dollar has come close to bottoming-out.

btw at $86k, I wouldn't even dream of a M5 unless they took another 20k off. Then I might consider it but doubtful. That's insulting to pay that much for a car.....I'd have to live in Upper Saddle River in Kimora's old house before I'd spend that much.

Never. E90 = amazing car for the price, and the M5/M6 are too big for my tastes.

Now, if we were talking about a car like the G-Power M3 CSL with a V10 or the Hamann E92 with 560-HP...

While I could afford to drive a more expensive car (although not quite M6 territory), I believe the cost of the 335i is right about where I want to be. In fact, I wouldn't even trade for a new M3, because $65K is too much as well. I can't imagine dropping $100K on a single vehicle.

And even if they were both free, I'd get an M5 over an M6 personally.

I'd rather keep my 335i and get a new C6 and spend any extra $ on mods

im thinking bout getting an 06 m5 for around $62-65k, still cheaper than an e92 m3 and a bit more car. the money i save in the difference between the price of an m3 and a used m5 will go into mods. i didnt enjoy driving around in the 645ci i borrowed from my friend for a week, it seemed like an under powered boat. i would much rather drive an e90 or e92, especially a modded one. im sure an m6 is a completely different case. my dream would to have the hartge e90 with the v10 and 500+hp but i have no clue how much that would cost and what the resale value would be in the US after a couple of years, e90s are the perfect size of car for my taste.

Too big for my tastes. I have considered buying a used E39 M5 on the side. But when the day comes where I have M6 money, there'll be a 911 in my driveway.

+1... anytime a car is over 80k, I almost always think that I would rather have a 911 instead. If only I had the cash flow for a GT3... I love that car.

No way... I have both... The M6 is a completely different beast.... the 335i is a mini-beast but you cant compare the 2. they have different thrills and practicality!

Or perhaps an M Coupe?

When I decided to replace the Z4 2.5i with something faster and hardtopped, I looked at everything - 6-series, 911, Cayman S, SLK, CLK, used SL500, blah, blah. Half of them are more luxury cruisers than sports car (the 911 is a great GT but still...) and for luxury I'd rather have a 4-door. In fact, I'm thinking of getting a 530i...

I see where you're coming from, but the 911 in S or GT form is IMO the most visceral experience you'll ever get from a car you can enjoy on any occassion. For me, the 6 is too lux, the Cayman is too small (the leg room just isnt there for me to drive it more than an hour without complaining, and benzes are completely too luxury oriented...

But give me a 911S that is as special to me on a sunday morning when i'm going on a joyride as it in on Monday morning when i've come up with an excuse to "have to" drive it to work and you've got yourself a winner. Plus, childhood dreams never die.

But in the meantime, the 335i is one heck of a midway point.

Like some of the others...If I could afford an M6...I'd probably get something else anyway
