A little jealous, I keep hearing great things about Calabogie, I may need to make a trip out there! I was suppose to have a track day here in Calgary on the 24th but it decided to snow!!

Here is part of vid from the track yesterday. ALM3 is driving the Mustang GT Track Car that I am following. We had a great time - he followed me a while and then we switched it up!

Actually yesterday was not one of my real "sideways" days. That track is just has too much grip even the wet for those hijinksAlso with that track being primarily 3rd & 4th corners that is not the fastest way to get around there.Once I put the dry setup on in the afternoon when the track was still damp, that is when I had some issues with grip over the rises at corner 6 & 9a with wheelspin in the top of 3rd gear.Hell that track offers up so many challenges that need to be mastered in order to go quick!

Actually the rental could actually be my plan for the future as I am pretty sure I would spend less money per day than I do now.The drive to Calabogie from TO is actually quite nice and is only 350kms with the last 60 kms from HWY 41 being quite enjoyable.I just love that track and the people up there so much that I have to figure out how to be up there a lot more next year!

Calabogie Mustangs
I ran one of the Mustangs all day Saturday and had more fun that I can explain. The M3 is faster, both with power on the straights as well as grip in the corners. However while I am not a Ford fan I was very favourably surprised by the Mustang GT. On the wet track it was very slippery but completely controllable. In the dry it had a lot more understeer, which is understandable. Using a full 2 2/3 tanks of fuel and over 400Km made the day a bargain.
Running with Jaypod was a blast - he was faster in some spots and I was faster in other. Later Jay rode with me and we played with a race prepared 914 with a 911 motor. We passed each other numerous times. I really have to learn how to focus on my driving when someone is behind me. I tend to get intimidated and start to make errors and go sideways. Once again this was so much fun we should do this annually. Oh yes I didn't need the lawnmower at all - pavement the whole day. Thanks for arranging Gearhead. So glad none of us wasted money on a JPS (GTR).

Thanks Al - but I am not really sure where I was faster than you on the track! You and Gearhead are definitely out of my league, Although I feel like I am getting better and better - a track like Calabogie definitely challanges you and keeps you on your toes! I am thinking Calabogie is going to be on the agenda at least 2-3 times a year! Wish it was closer to the GTA! |
