modded m3 vs stock m3
I am ready to do Turner test pipes w/stock secondary cats, active exhaust and ess tune. Does anyone have any video links of a modded m3 vs stock m3? I want to see the power difference on a real road race not just dyno charts. I tried search but nothing came up. Thanks in advance.

Not at all, but thank you. If no videos out there, is it safe to say that an m3 modded will beat a stock m3 by four (4) + car lenghts at high speeds 60mph and up? Just want to justify to myself spending the extra money.

You're going to gain some power and the car will 'feel' quicker but in reality you're not going to really blow past a stock M3, especially not on a road course. So it's not really video worthy.

Obviously ESS is amazing, but the stock M3 didn't sound like it was on power, maybe even between shift points...I don't dispute that the ESS is MUCH faster, I'm just having issues with the testing method. |

that video looked like a lot more than 4 car lengths at 100mph let alone 270km whatever that is 160ish

Sure it will... anywhere from 25 to 40 hp at the wheels which you get on these can be felt. In real life, that is a lot of extra usable power and would absolutely make a difference. I have been in an M3 (BMRLVR's) with a Akra EVO and tune and it was noticeably faster than my stock M3.

People who say that exhaust and a tune don't make a big difference on NA cars, haven't had it applied to our cars. As you can see, it makes a huge difference! My car ran consistant, 12.39-12.65- 1/4 mile times in 90 degree weather at PBIR. Enjoy

I disgree bro... I picked up an exhaust and an ESS tune and I definitley feel the difference!!!! I know it wont kick up a whole lot and you dont feel it like if you added an S/C, but you do feel the difference. I got the direct flash from ESS and I love it cause I can switch from stock tune to the mod tune whenever I want. I ran my car with stock tune, then programmed the ESS tune and ran car. No numbers or times but you can feel the difference... I'm waiting on a dyno trip....

I bought a set of used hfc from a forum member, and he had a full catless exhaust with a tune, and i was stock... we had a run. I'm manual, he's auto... it was somewhat hard to find a good starting point, cause of the different shifting points. He would pull on me, not too much thou. Couple of runs (from about 50-110) he pulled about a car or two. From other speeds it would range from a car to 3-4 car lenghts. I'm sure if you were to go to higher speeds the difference would have been greater. (first 40+ roll is a great example in that vid)
I just recently installed the xpipe and hfc, and i'll be honest, except for the sound, there's not that much power... the whole set up (new) cost about $2.5k, and in my opinion is not worth it.... I come from ms3 and STI, where $600 added gobs of power. Offcourse you can't compare turbo to n/a, but then look at how much *63AMG, Vettes, Audi's, etc add for $1k... makes me sad... M3 is a great car as is, stock. You won't make it into dragster, and it's not for roll on races (get an srt4 if you like that). If i were to do it all over again, i'd get a tune, that's it! Exhaust for sound, if you like it... IMHO, fabspeed hfc and xpipe are tooooo loud, car sounds like a raped ape! |
