To say performance wise the M3 is better is simply incorrect. You do not even know what generation the OP is referring to, let alone the simple fact that a .2 911S will eat a M3 for brunch. |

Now if you read the thread you would know that my comment was referencing the Aston Martin Vantage and not the 911.......wake up people.............Phil

grab a 997 Turbo! I would get bored of the S!
But I do love the looks of the vantage tho and for the prices they can be had for now, its worth it. Sure maintenance might cost a pretty penny but the looks are phenomenal |

You paid $90k. Why do you say cash? Did you bring paper bags full to the dealer? |

Ok I paid in full via bank transfer. I guess most people say cash when they pay in full. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I wonder if anyone does show up with a briefcase full of cash.

Thats why when I saw it online on the porsche used car finder (it wasnt on cars.com or autotrader) I immediately called the dealer and agreed to a small discount plus shipping costs. Every other GTS with low miles was way more expensive (typically 10 to 15k more) so even though I went over my budget I am still happy feeling that I got a great deal. I believe at the time my car had the lowest mileage out of all of the used GTS for sale. The dealership was located in long island and it appeared to be a smaller dealership so that could be the reason that I got a great deal.

I hope your car(s) are on high ground!
May Isaac pass you by with no property damage or personal injury.

Thanks! All 3 Porsche's are in the garage as usual and we tucked the Z4 in really close in between 2 walls and a Nissan Murano. House is boarded, sandbags in place, and sailboat has loosened lines now. Everything went through Katrina just fine, I think the issue here is Isaac is going to sit over New Orleans and dump over 10 inches of rain. I mean businesses will get waked by passing cars during a bad rain storm, but at least the levees will hold. Thanks for all the prayers!

Loved it, but it was always a big- ish saloon in my eyes, and I prefer a smaller car. Bought a 11k mile C2S 997.2 last week, without driving one first. Big leap of faith. So pleased I did. It seems so much smaller, so much more compact, so much prettier. Prefer the brakes, steering and sound. Every bit as fast, probably faster I think. Quite a bit better on fuel, not that that is too important. Drives and handles just as I like. Also, M3 had base audio which was awful, the C2 has Bose, which is excellent.. Very happy indeed M3 was superb though- a privilege to have owned it |

I get the funny feeling that owning a 911 is not all what people expected it to be.
Let me clarify. If it's going to be a pure track car, it's the prefect car. If the 911 is going to be the weekend toy, perfect. But if it goint to be the DD with real world needs, not the perfect car to own. From all of the soul searching I've done and opinions I've read, the 911 is best to be own as a second, third car under any situation. Personally, I feel that way with my M3. Can be used as a DD, but for me, it's a weekend toy to polished more than driven. I say that because my real world situation does not allow for lots of play time. |
