missed a gear question

I have 2011 e92. I missed a gear in 1st at 6k the other day trying to shift into 2nd. I am wondering if I did any damage. everything seems to be okay but I def rubbed the syncro at 6k.

Dont understand... you were going from 1-2 or 2-1? Downshifting is what you have to worry about..but as long as you didnt over-rev past redline you are fine

Synchros will always rub, that is their function .

From your description, I assume your tried a quick upshift from 1st to 2nd at 6000RPM. If you are saying that you "missed the shift" it is either that you heard crunching noises when you engaged 2nd gear or that the 2nd gear simply did not go in. In either case, you probably only did very minor damage to the dog teeth (no pun intended ). Nothing to worry about. Just don't keep doing it, as in the long run it will damage the transmission.

If the tranny shifts fine don't worry about it.

I've ground 2nd once in this car and it's been fine since. I did it quite a few times in my 350Z with no apparent ill effects. It's not good but you don't need a new trans. Shift a little slower. That extra 0.1 second isn't worth it.

If the trans was damaged, you would definitely feel it. Transmission is like a aggressive wife, if you hurt her she will bitch slap you right away.
