Yea...Looks like my next best bet is the Patriot, or Mignon.

What bugs is why did they say i was going to finish on the 7th, then when i call on that date they said my car finished quality and check. Now i get told that my car finished production on the 15th. This does not make sense, esp. since i should be right after Skierman's car. WTF is going on? Maybe my car had problems after it finished production and they had to make a new car?

All that means is they practiced on my car and got it right on the second car they made for you.

If the Elektra arrival date continues to slip (was 29 now 31 March) your car may beat mine here.

That's BS that your dealer didn't keep you in the loop on your change.

I called BMW NA right now and asked them WTF was going on. The rep said that my car finished production on the 7th but it didnt complete quality and check until the 14th.

I asked them why did this happen and whats up with that huge delay. He said it could have been a number of things from the quality of the paint, or maybe a bad part, or because of the car in front of mine had a delay. I was like lol the car in front of mine is already on a ship! Hes like o....well i guess there must have been something important otherwise it wouldnt have taken that long.

I dont like to think bad thoughts but I HOPE that there wont be any problems with my car once i take delivery. Even Kwhm3's car is on the Elektra, which is 58 cars after mine.

Should I call BMW NA and say, "hey, don't blame fifth's delay on me" I'm sure they would wonder how we know who's in front of who.

Fifth, I'm sure they installed a supercharger on your M during the delay. You'll have the only 600hp M3 in the world.

I hope so too, im trying to comfort myself by thinking maybe they loved my car so much they took it out for a photoshoot or something.

But i shouldnt have to worry about anything right? Say the motor or tranny was defective, im sure they would replace it with a new one right? 7 days seem pretty long for quality and check, im starting to think maybe they built me a whole new car and just kept the VIN.

I understand your concern, however Quality control is just what the name implies. Whatever the issue was has been fixed or they wouldn't have sent the car to the port.

If I had to guess I'd guess it was a DCT issue of some sort, since our cars where the first DCT cars down the assembly line I'd guess it was a minor hiccup of some sort. Maybe they used your car to determine the GGT.

I wouldn't worry, really.

It might have been a DCT part they needed, in which case they might have had to wait for Getrag to send them the part. Again, just speculation.

Yea, who knows. Could have been anything, maybe the leather was bad quality or a tech guy sneezed on my steering wheel.

Well now at least i know where my car is. Im going to take it easy for a few weeks and focus on studying. **edit: and start drinking heavily**

Damn bro...sorry! Well, it sounds like they got everything worked out. That's better than your car showing up in Jersey and then f..ing up on you 1-2 days after delivery.

FifthSteet look at it this way - your car has probably gotten more QA hours than any two average M3s. I mean they will make certain everything is absolutely in order and impeccably assembled and tested. Even moreso than as usual.

It's either that or some exec saw it at the port and said "You know, my daughter would love that car...".

Ok, is anyone else tracking the Elektra? I was looking at the track tonight and it looks like it's heading East toward Europe. Hopefully it's an error somewhere, as it's not an automated system that tracks the ship. If it aborted it's trans atlantic journey I'm going to cry.

When i searched schedules it said its going to arrive 4/2.

A horrible reason for that just popped into my head. What if BMW AG is recalling all M-DCT cars that has been shipped out!! Like they are holding it until a official review from a mag. or something.

Doubtful. WWL is not going to call back a ship for one customer.

There are a lot of cars on that ship, not just DCT cars. If BMW decided to hold the DCT cars back they'd do it at the VPC and not turn a ship around. Turning a ship around would be mucho expensive I think.

I'm betting on an error on the tracking system.
