No. You can get a nice E46 M3 for that price though.

Best evo ever.

Also, don't fear getting an old e92 m3.
A car's a car. If you're handy, you can fix whatever yourself.

(So long as it's not some proprietary electronic widget that only special BMW equipment can set up).

IMO, used is best when :
A) ~Year old. Still new, but you don't pay the 'off the lot' loss.
B) Old as possible. Save a wad of cash, beat the sh1t out of it. Have fun all day every day, and don't feel bad about it.

If I were to do an e92, I'd go old as possible, and just race/track/etc it and not even care if non-essentials don't work (broken radio? f that. AC dead? who cares. Runs strong? GREAT.). Take all the saved $ and just put it towards fees, tyres and drive train maintenance.

If you cant afford this model at 40k, how is that going to change in 2 years for a car that is going to go up in base price (by all reports a significant amount)?

not to sound like a prick, but i am not looking forward to owning a car that someone can pick up for under 30k. Even though its used with a high miles. its a e92 m3. i mean 4 weeks ago i just my car and it was priced at 75k. lol

I wish i got a M3 sooner. lol but do plan a short ownership

There are several 2006 E46 ZCP M3's for sale that are actually less than $29k. I'd go with one of those over a 150k mile or salvaged E92 any day.

You will only find one for 27k with a salvage title or extremely high miles. However in the 30-40k price range. You do have many options.

Best of luck

You wont find a decent one at that price. Decent will be around 33k - 35k at the lowest. But as this model gets older and the new one is released you'll be able to find one for 27 in the next couple of years.

you shouldnt base anything on that. who cares. you got the last na m3 and its gonna be a better overall car than the new m3/m4. unless you bought it planning to turn around in the next couple years. you might be hosed then.

Well i got this car because like you said, its something special.

Another thing of getting this car was the prestige side to it. but when more people can afford it, it brings the prestige thing down. Is normal for anything that starts to get old.

I like to have the newest and baddest thing out. something some "kid" couldn't afford, a big boy toy if you will. Something about the M3 made my WANT to have it over other cars. i really have no regrets, but do see maybe a 3 year ownership. then will probably move to a Porsche.

No even flood damage M3's don't go that low. Save your money and stick with your '93 corolla.

What age do you classify a "kid"?

So let me get this straight. You wanted a car that gave you "prestige" and you went ahead and bought a glorified dime a dozen 3 series? And please, no lectures about that "racing inspired" oh so special V8 blah blah blah.

If you want prestige, go get a Bentley or a Ferrari. Or at the very least a 7 series (arguably the only BMW with any traces of prestige left).

Ezio, we need to talk, it's not working out. It's not you, it's us. We know us kids don't have enough prestige on this forum. We just want the best for you and that's why we think you'd be so much happier with a Porsche than us riff-raff.

Have you heard of Autotrader or ebaymotors? Search 2008 and newer M3's less than $27k. Question answered.

Well no, i got a M3 because i like the performance side/and luxury/prestige. Its not some normal 3 series lol. I am a car guy trust me. i will be tracking this summer just like i always do.

Again a M3 is much more than a sports car.

people need to clam down, i said one true remark. The car is going to get cheap, and a lot more people will be able to buy it. you can take it from there.
