Hey BlueMonde - looks like you'll be at the track meet tomorrow so we can discuss more. I've been in contact with Mike@Powerchip and he'd fly to Houston if I organized a group buy. We might be able to get him to send the cable for the coding; I'd need to verify this.

There are several things I want from the custom coding. The biggest feature (for me) is being able to display a DVD movie while the handbrake is released. This helps my passenger (aka my long suffering girlfriend) on long trips or I can watch a movie while racing around MSR

All - I've been in contact with Mike and he can code our cars remotely. I still need to get more details (e.g., discount we'd get) before creating a new thread for the group buy. In the meantime, please take a look at http://ultimatetune.com/Coding.pdf for a list of features.

Cool. So the more options we get per person, the better each person's price?

Couple of things I did not see in Mikes list that would ve cool to have:

1. Fold up side mirrors when engine is shut off.
2. Fold down side mirrors when engine is turned on.
3. Triple turn signal option can be set to x number of blinks. I'd pick 6 or 7 as three blinks is not enough to make a nice and slow lane change.

If DCT software is updated by the dealer, will recoding have to be done and how much?

Tinpot: can you ask Mike about all the above for us?

Hi Frank - I'll bring this up with Mike.

Anyone else have q's? E.g I'm interested about how a dealership overwrite is handled.

I'm also following up on the logistics of how this will work ie all get together 1 afternoon, type of access Mike needs, etc.

I'm in Austin and can do a good chunk of the generally discussed and desired coding. If anyone's willing to make the drive out here, I'd probably do it for free. I haven't tried video-in-motion but I know how to do it, doesn't seem terribly difficult. Folding mirrors is no problem. I can't do software updates like retrofitting 6NR, but options changes are no big deal.

Lol, it'd be a while before I had time to come out to Houston unfortunately. As for coding, I can't do retrofit coding (even for equipment you purchased afterward that's OEM for your car, like folding mirrors or an alarm that wasn't installed at the factory), but I can do config changes such as:

Remove Seat Belt Chime
Disable Auto Dim Mirrors
Close Windows/Roof with keyfob
Fold side mirrors with keyfob and Comfort Access
Eject Key Fob with Engine Off
Start engine without pressing brake
Unlock Doors on engine off
Disable iDrive Disclaimer
Fuel Stop Suggestion in iDrive Route Guidance
Alarm beep only on lock or unlock
Disable windows safety feature (one-touch up/down will continue even if door is open while window is moving)
Double-blink hazards
Engine Auto Start/Stop starts in last used state
Enable older REST feature on cars with an ALL button on AC panel
Central Lock button only works with key in ignition
Wipers return to End position after turning engine off
Auto Headlight Sensitivity adjustment (doesn't work if you have iDrive)
Digital speedometer
Digital speedometer correction factor on/off
Remove door gong
EfficientDynamics Shift Suggestion in 6MT
Instant MPG
Instrument Cluster Lighting Always On
Moonroof auto-close when rain detected
Both xenons and halogens as high beams

Never tried it, but at the very least I'd need to ship my cable around, which I'd rather not do. Then I'd either need to set up USB-over-IP (tricky) or make sure all of you have all the necessary software on your systems and remote into them to configure everything and handle coding. That's tricky too because in addition to people potentially not wanting me remoting into their systems (perfectly understandable, I wouldn't), I'd be working with and having to make changes to a bunch of different people's computers, which is a lot of unknown quantity to deal with. I work in IT so I could probably do it from a technical standpoint, but working in IT teaches you that those types of situations should be avoided whenever possible.

Also I'll be out of town starting Tuesday until 7/25, so unless you'll be heading up this weekend or Monday night this will have to wait a bit.

Got it or we can have a tech day. we all get together and do it on the same day/place etc. (if coding doesn't take to long)
but the other 2 option still open (Road Trip / Wait)
