Vaycay in Miami

Gents,

A friend and I are in the planning stages of an EPIC trip to Miami in the spring of 2013 . Since neither of us have been to Miami, we will require some recommendations on where to go! This is where you can help...

Post your favorite spots in Miami/South Beach area.

Bars/Lounges/Clubs/Restaurants/Things to do...etc

*We're staying for about a week*
*Please note if it is better to go on a Thursday vs Friday, etc.*
*No techno*

Thanks!

No house music? What kind of music do you like?

There are a ton of bars and restaurants to go to.

Restaurants:
Red
Prime 112
Prime Italian
Capital Grille
Gotham Steak
Houston's (Hillstone)

These are just off the top of my head.

A hot spot on the beach is the Fountainbleau. You should try staying there.

Restaurants:

Texas De Brazil or Fogo De Chao (not for vegans though )

I'd recommend renting a boat and crusing on the intercostal.
Should be quite a scenery change for someone coming from Germany

Also, take a day and drive down to the keys.
The road is breathtaking

Thanks for the info! That Fountainbleau spot looks like a winner...

About the choice in music...We can work with Salsa, (Chill out lounge type music), Mild Hip Hop, Live music, Or a spot that plays a variety of music.

Great idea with the boat. I'll have to check it out!

Definitely going to hit that Texas De Brazil spot. If it's anything like the restaurant that I went to during my trip to Rio, it will be amazing. Definitely will be a change of scenery when compared to Germany but I'm really from CA! I'm here for a few years for work, I live a couple hours away from the Nurburgring!

Cool.
Both of those restaurants are Brazilian steak houses that are a few blocks away from each other in south beach
Fogo De Chao is actually a brazilian chain and has a few branches in Sao Paulo, Rio etc.

the view of the ocean with all the shades of blue and turquoise is beautiful.
First time I drove down there I could barely focus on the road.
I guess you get used to it with time, but for the first time you see it it looks like paradise

Someone already mentioned Red - it's one of the best steakhouses anywhere. Not cheap, though

Just checked out a couple of pics from their website. Yes, I think we'll do well there @ Space.

Steak is on the menu. We're on vacation, we can splurge a little.

I think I'll be going to Tootsies tonight, thanks to repoman's pic

I don't think you will care too much for club Space; the only time I went it was a trance-fest...
