How to Clean Black Rubber marks after track sessions
The title says it all. I was at VIR last week, not my hood is covered with black rubber marks. What is the best way to clean it. I was thinking of wetting a towel with hot water and gently cleaning it. There should be a better way to do this.

There's no good solution short of getting a proper commercial rubber remover. Many of us use Mothers Racing Rubber remover. It works great but on horizontal surfaces it runs off so you need to apply it to your sponge or towel.
The Canadian guys have something called FSW or something like that which is the same stuff but it goes on as a foam and sticks better. I probably have the name wrong as I haven't been able to locate that product anywhere. |

Mothers Racing Rubber remover doesn't damage the paint right? should i just spray and let it sit a minute or two to get it to work?

Yes, perfectly safe for paint. I called them and they said it's safe on clear bra as well and I've had no problems with that finish either. The 3M reps don't want you using it, I've not had any trouble and it works just as well as on paint.

Mother's Racing Rubber remover is obviously custom-tailored for the job, but I've used Bug 'n' Tar Remover with good results as well. Just hit the finish with some Zaino Z6 gloss enhancer or equivalent after removing the rubber scuffs.

kicking it old school, thumb nail over wet cotton rag, elbow grease and persistence. Comes right off. A good base of wax helps too.

Automotive Goo-gone does it for me. Simply spray, wait a minute or two and wipe off. Wash the car as you normally would afterwards.

Turtle Wax Bug & tar remover is effortless, and does not scratch the paint

I've got a clear bra, and get some pretty nasty rubber marks from time to time at the track. I've actually resorted to using Sunlight liquid dish soap. It lifts those rubber marks faster than anything. That being said, I know it basically strips any sealant/wax applied to the area as well.

Exactly. Keep a couple of scuffs on the finish so that when fellow track junkies walk past your car in a grocery store parking lot, they'll think, "This guy is legit" instead of, "Another hard parker."

50 grit...black marks come off so fast.
Seriously, I've quit trying to remove the marks after each event. I take off them off before I wax with 3M adhesive remover.

Recommend me a clear bra cleaner that's easy to find at local stores please?
This is my first car with a clear bra. For paint I use Goof Off. Works like magic. |
