I seriously doubt this is a tire issue. I have the same problem and had it with factory rubber and my winters. Happens only between 80 and 90 mph. Anything over 90 up to 130 is smooth as silk. There is a lot of rubber in the front suspension. In particular, the tension rod (the one that runs diagonally from the front of the wheel well towards the strut) can cause vibrations. I've mentioned this in other threads. Look it up on the M5 boards. The solution for the M5 crowd is to replace the rubber tension rod bushing with a spherical bearing. Dinan reps claim to have one in the works for the e9x M3, but I've been waiting for it since before Thanksgiving. It will fix this problem, if they ever release it.

my zhp shimmied since day one i drove it from the dealer. In the beginning I thought it was normal, but now, I don't think so. I replaced the factory tires since then, I have bought new tires since then, ContiSport2, and the car still shimmies. I took it to the dealer when it was under warranty, but since I had 42k miles on it, the tech told me possibly could be a bent wheel. I am thinking of purchasing new wheels; maybe that would rectify the problem
