QUESTION:

Should I have the exhaust installed at a BMW specialty shop or any reasonable muffler shop?

I think any reputable muffler shop can do it. Its not rocket science. Why don't you make a post in the regional forum to see where people are getting done for a reasonable price.

Any shop can handle it. I still recommend trying it yourself. If you don't have a sawzall just borrow one from a friend. It's quite simple install and you'll feel good knowing you saved yourself $360 for half an hours worth of work.

For some reason the southwest forum lacks activity...

I would love doing it myself, but 1) I don't have a saw (they cost $60+), 2) i don't have the special pliars to push out the rubber connectors. I know it can be pushed out by hand but I just won't want to spend too much effort on this...

Joel is a friend of mine so we talk regardless

He informed me that he removes the OEM muffler off the car, does the cut, aligns the new muffler then re-installs it. He charges for his time to do that job how he knows best.

No got a sport. Just loud/deep enough for my taste. It gives a nice deep growl when driving on streets, and is actually very civilized on the highway. I like it so far
