What are the best pedals for a 6 speed for track use? I'm having a very hard time even attempting to learn to heel toe and it's cause the brake and accelerator are so far apart. Anyone got any after market pedals they would recommend? I've seen some with a heel toe extension before. Anyone use something like it?

I know may would say just get a DCT but I'm young and like my cars old school. Clutch!

My husband bought me the Dinan pedals for my E90. They have rubber nubbies to help with Heel/Toe. Also good are the Turner pedals (what I have in my E36 M3 track car) with "scratchy" surface - same goal. Both work great, although I'd have to say I prefer the Turner pedals as I've found my feet stick better to them.

Also, when you install them, you can bring the pedals closer together. This helps some...

I think I still would want an extension. Cause they are much too far apart. At least for me they are.

Do you practice on the street? I didn't find it terribly difficult to heel toe the E9x. You might not want that extension for daily driving.

I dont think itd suck for daily driving though. And I do try to practice on the streets... still got the same problem... feet too narrow and I risk slipping off the brake. I am most comfortable doing heel toe with the middle of my foot and rolling over. Not the actual heel on one and toe on the other.... sounds funny but most guys at the TWS were saying its what they do with extended pedals.

You need to sitck some viagra between your toes...it makes your feel swell and then heel-toeing is a breeze!

What kind of shoes are you wearing? I had some Piloti Prototipo's and heel-toe downshifts were quite challenging because the edges of the sole are rounded. Its much easier when I wear my regular running shoes since the soles are a little wide and squared off at the edges while still thin enough to have some feel.

I've also seen some people wearing chucks.

When I first started learning how to heel-toe, I did it on the street and I would rotate my foot (ball of foot on brake, heel on gas). When I got better, I didn't have to rotate my foot as much. I still have to rotate my foot since mine is not wide enough to really modulate both pedals. This actually causes a problem in my E46 when I am wearing my helmet. At first, I was driving with my head tilted sideways because the roof was too low (sunroof) and I had a massive Go Speed Racer white dome helmet from Spaceballs...but that's another story.

Not my car...but ultimate pedals sells them. You get the to engrave a pocket for the emblems.

I have the Ultimate Pedals shown in post #8 with the upper left extension for the gas pedal. It's a huge help for those trying the heel-toe technique of rolling your foot. Instead of the gel logos I had them engrave ///M on them. They look great and perform well, highly recommend.

How do you like the shiny finish? I was thinking about the frosted finish...gotta replace my 8 year old ebay pedals in my 330.

I have ultimate pedals. I ended up taking the rubber nubbins off. They stiffen and fall out and I got sick of hunting for them.

I put an extended throttle pedal on to help with heel-toe, which worked wonders for downshifts in day-to-day driving, but I found that during braking drills at a BMW skills course I would frequently catch the throttle with my foot when it required urgent movement from throttle to brake, and so switched back to the regular pedal.

I know, I know....I should be left foot braking...

I carry the Turner race pedals. Very nicely CNC machined parts (you will certainly appreciate that ) with small pyramids on the clutch and brake pedals for grip. The gas pedal is smooth for heel/toe. Just installed these for KennyPowers. Let me know if you need any help.

I learned to heel and toe over 20 yrs ago but never did or could use my heel - my size 12A feet are way too long to stick my heel over.

I've always just used the right side of the brake pedal and rolled my ankle over to press hit the gas with the right edge of my foot. I use running shoes too which add width to my narrow feet. I would suggest learning on the street with those type of shoes before progressing to the true driving shoes.

I haven't found any problems with the pedal placement of either my 1M or my previous e90 but have added a thin gas pedal cover to a VW that had the gas pedal too far away. Not to bring the gas pedal to the same level as the brake pedal but to give it extra width.

If you're going to buy pedal covers I would suggest that you get one with a smooth gas pedal cover and textured middle one. The Turner set looks nice!

Mine (shown in picture above) are Shiny Anti-Slip without Grip Insert. They match the stock footrest very well. No need for the aftermarket one.
