Who takes their M3 out driving just for fun?

Track time excluded, who here just goes out driving for fun from time to time?

I have the good fortune of living a short distance from some spectacular country driving roads. Usually about once a month, I go out in the very early morning and just blast around for a couple of hours.

Anyone else do this sort of thing?

With my M3, driving for fun is the only kind.

My M3 isn't my DD so many times after a tough day I come home to "relax" by driving the M3. For some reason the sound of the motor / exhaust and carving through the Pocono Mountains always makes me smile. It's good therapy.

I was going to ask, how other members here can hold the urge to drive it and not use it as a DD. I have a hard time climbing into my tundra and leave the M in the garage some times!

I do agree that the M has a great therapeutic effect on the soul. Im still trying to find some nice twisty backroad up in CT ( anyone feel free to recommend some), though I recently found a nice one which Ill get up really early as well on a nice sat/sun morning and get some steam out of the system.

Which country roads? I don't live that far from you and would like to try new roads.

Driving for fun starts every time I push the START button

I take her for those missed items to the store and when I do always take the long way home

Edit ... Another cross country road trip is planned for 2013 .... London, Ontario - Canada > Chicago ... Then following Route 66 all the way to LA ... Then up the coastal highway route 1 all the way to Vancouver Canada and back home to London Ontario. Done a similar trip in 2010 in my then Z4 just not exactley as outlined above.

All the time. If only fuel wasn't so expensive over here - at £90 a tank, I would do it everyday.

Every time I take the M3 out, it's fun
Even after 4 hers of ownership
It's still a pleasure to drive it every day, every errand.

I find myself "itchy" when not driving this car. When I sleep, she calls my name in a haunting way.

At least every couple of weeks. There's a good country road that winds along the lake less than ten miles from my house, was out there yesterday testing the new tires. Wheeeee!!

Cheers

All the time - there's nothing like an early morning drive in the hills/twistys. Moreover, one really doesn't have to speed to have fun...so much of the reward is in the handling, feedback, feel, engine and exhaust noise.

My M3 isn't my DD. I do take it out for drives a few times a week and those are invariably a pleasure and fun.

12,000 miles of fun in about six months.

0% of that is commuting to work. 100% fun.

about once every 3 months. Ironic part is when you work hard enough to make enough for this car, you don't have much more leisure time for stuff like this.

mine is my dd,and even little drives to the store are fun.even though you rarely get to drive the car hard on the street, just feeling the potential can be satisfying, and hell, just looking at the thing is a good feeling.i also just cruise out in the country for fun.the best thing about having this car for my dd is that drives i used to avoid,or feel like i had to do, i now feel like i get to do.that's worth a lot.
