Poll: VMR or CSL Gunmetal

Which would look better on an E90 Jerez/Fox M3? These will be used as winter and track wheels. They're both reps of course. I prefer a concave look on the wheel, as much as possible...

I lean towards the CSL reps cause I've had them before (previous M3's and like them). I"ve never seen the VMR in person...

VMR 710 wheels, and I'll tell you why...

The VMR 710's will be:

1) A little lighter than the CSL style wheel (weight wise)

2) Somewhat easier to clean than the CSL mesh design (open areas between the spokes)

3) Less common than the CSL wheel design (somewhat rare by comparison)

That's my take on this topic...

BTW: I think the 713's are even better than the 710's.

V710s get my vote, they are a more aggressive looking CSL style wheel.

Very nice, and yes, your pics are very helpful. I think I'm leaning towards the V710's. They're about $850 a set staggered, which is close to a set of the 18" stock (from a board member). I think I like the V710's better than stock however, the stock are ok looking but a bit bland up close.

I have 19's today and will probably sell them. The reason is due to the high cost of tires and I like to track my car there are a ton of inexpensive 18's out there...

I would recommend neither. I bought a set of VMR CSL late last year and the paint cracked after 2 weeks. VMR was very professional in trying to replace the wheels for me, but after weeks of waiting they sent me the wrong offset... at which time I decided to return everything (the front wheels also had a balancing issue). I wasted a few hundred dollars (mount and balance/shipping/packaging) and weeks of downtime on my car.

Just thought to share my experience.

I like the 710's because they look like a really aggressive CSL wheel or a very good imitation HRE P40 (which is a good thing).

Yikes! Reading that post is a bit scary. I had a set of VMR hyperblack csl's a couple years back for winter with no issues. But looks like the recent gunmetal finish has issues. Cannot use wheel cleaner on rims? Sounds like they're trying to hide something. Rock chips are normal? NEVER had a rock chip in any of my OEM wheels over the past 7 years.

This is really scaring me, I dont have time to deal with a bunch of BS regarding my wheels (I went through that last winter with some cheap wheels since I cannot get them balanced).

Maybe I'll end up buying somebody's OEM 18's. The quality is better with OEM altough the look isnt as cool...

how does the quality of the wheel look and any balancing/vibration issues? Looks like the quality of the VMR wheels is highly questionable based on some other threads out there... thanks

I had my wheels powder coated, they are not painted like the VMR default finishes. Drove up to 90mph yesterday and no balance/vibrations.

my vote goes to the VMR's! its pretty odd to hear that they've had finish issues lately. back during my E46 days i was a E46Fanatics forum member and TONS of them run around with those CSL reps by VMR and hear nothing but excellent reviews from them. anywho, if you do go get VMR's, get them from EAS! wonderful customer service!

Thanks for the kind words!

I also vote V710s as well. Having a 2 sets of VMRs on my E46, as well as having 3 sets on Brandon's E92, another 3 sets on our E92 M3, and another set on our 135i, we haven't had ANY issues and we all daily drive these cars. All the years we've had these wheels we haven't had issues, and if there are any issues, there's a 1 year warranty for that
