2008 E90 M3 Pricing?
Looking at trading in my 2011 328i E92 w/ MSport. There's a 2008 E90 M3 nearby with 40,xxx miles. It's CPO'd and they're asking $41,988. What does everyone think about this pricing?

i would say for the mileage and year you should be able to get it under 40 even with the cpo. if you can take it.

I learned the market is quite soft for '08 E90s (just sold mine last month). You should get one in the mid-$30Ks even with less than 40K miles on the clock.
It's worth forking over more for an '09 -- the updated tails/trunk look so much better IMO, as well as updated iDrive. Those two things bugged me the most about my '08, and I always regretted not going for an '09+ instead. |

the market may be soft bc they are coming off warranty/maintenance.i got mine w/36k miles non-cpo for high 30's in april, which means the first owner ate about $30k in depreciation.
i have gotten some things on warranty (the biggest was a trans),the car was local,well-cared for,and equipped almost exactly like i wanted it.i didn't want nav,and like the 08 tails fine,so this was a perfect opportunity for me.i think the price was fair to maybe $1 or 2k high, but it was well worth it because of this unique blend of factors. |

CPO adds a few thousand to the value (at least according to my bank)
I would expect to pay 35-36k with 50k+ miles and closer to 40 as the miles drop down. I paid $39,750 for mine a couple months ago, fully loaded w/ 21k miles fresh out of the BMW Lease Auction. Non-CPO, Just out of warranty, but new PS2's and serviced by the dealer prior to me getting it. If the car is fully loaded, I would try and get the dealer down to 38-39 for the M3 you're looking at. CPO warranty is nice to have. |

$42k seems awfully generous for an 08.

38-40k seems to be the right price point for an 08 car under 40,000 miles at a dealer. I paid in that range for mine and a quick Autotrader search across the entire country proves that. Thats for a non-CPO car so add 3k+ for CPO.
Looking at the Manheim auction transactions over the past few days dealers are still paying upwards of $36,000-$38,000 for the M3s in that mileage range with a high quality grade. They are not going to sell to anyone without some profit. Definitely looks like you can get to the mid-low 30s if you're willing to break the 55-60k mileage mark. |
