How would the M3 compare against a Ram SRT-10
On paper it looks like not much of a contest, but I wonder what happens from a low speed roll, say 20-30 mph to around 80?

SRT-10 kills it in a roll, hand down. Up to 140 mph, then drag kills the SRT-10. Viper V-10 Engine 500hp and 500 ftpds of torque........ is this even a valid comparrison.

Any opinions
on the outcome?
And, any "race" stops when the vehicle in front sees it is clearly pulling away from the loser. Then you can feel free to do a flyby... |

Know so.......... I have seen this race first hand on the autobahn. From a 60 roll to 140 the SRT-10 dominates, at 140 the M3 moves in for the kill, could be gearing, could be drag... but you cannot even begin to believe that the M3 has a chance against a V10 Viper powered pick up from a ROLL. Drag the M3 has the advantage as it has far better traction off the line, hence the awsome 0-60 times. Put a few sand bags in the ass end of the SRT and some drag radials.... would be a close race............. if the SRT could hook up and launch good.

Don't know what the fuss is about in regards to RAM SRT-10 being able to hang or beat an M3? It is as far fetched as Pink Floyd's reunion tour.
The fastest tested time for RAM SRT-10 with 500 HP and 525 ft-lbs of torque is (ofcourse, don't forget the 5200 lbs weight giving it a power-to-weight ratio of 10.3 lbs/HP compared to M3's 8.4 lbs/HP). 0-60: 4.9 secs 1/4 mile: 13.6@105 mph compared to M3 0-60: 4.3 secs 1/4 mile: 12.6@112 mph That looks more like even slower than an E46 M3. Whether you look at the time to 1/4 mile or look at the trap speed by the time both cars hit the 1320, a properly driven M3 is leagues above it.

Just put a corner or two into a race scenario and see what the outcome may be.....

In talking to guy, he loves having the "fastest" PU made.... but hates the 3mpg he gets around post and unlike most MOPAR guys, he is humble in the fact that he admits his Viper PU is not a sports car.

I have no idea what you mean by that. Unless, the M3 starts in 4th gear from 60 mph, it will not be beaten at any speed. The power to weight ratio difference is just too big. SRT-10 RAM has the PWR similar to an E46 M3, which also yields similar trap speeds of 105 mph. Even if the SRT-10 gets the jump, the PWR difference will enable a well driven M3 to reel it back in well before 100 mph.
You should look up the 0 - 100 mph, 0 - 130 mph, 5 - 100 mph, 0 - 150 mph. M3 is faster from any speed. The trap speeds are the best indicator of their top end power especially from a rolling start and the M3 is head and shoulders above the RAM SRT-10. 7 mph difference is HUGE!!! Quote:

This is worth a look. Not sure how that Jeep got that sort of traction off the line. Impressive though.

No stinking way that pickup beats an M3 after 60mph. My SUV would crush that Dodge but I would lose to an M3 beyond 60. Up high that brick on 4 wheels is toast.

I remember watching a Typhoon back in the day take on a Carrera 993, and it won on the 1/4 mile, then came the Cyclone, both were really fast for a pick up truck and SUV, this was on the 90's though, even though the m3 wins hands down on paper, those trucks are fast and should get credit for it

Weight is the SRT-10s biggest problem, do some carbon fiber mods, remove some crap and the SRT-10 becomes a dangerous death mobile (kinda like the viper)
Honestly, no way in hell should an SRT-10 have better top end than an m3. |
