Post Dinan Coilovers Release Info

So after the long wait and all of the teasing, here you go. These should be available 9/28 according to my source................Phil

Dinan Part Number:

R190-9131

Product Name:

Stage 1 Coil-Over Suspension Kit M3 EDC

Applications:

 2007-12 M3 (E90, E92, E93; w/ EDC only)

Features & Benefits:

 Threaded collars allow easy front & rear vehicle height adjustments.

 Dinan recommends a -0.75”drop in front and -0.50” drop in rear, while maintaining a civilized ride.

 Additional ¼” lowering is possible, depending on available tire clearance.

 Even further lowering possible, but with diminished ride quality.

 Included suspension packers allow adjustment of bumpstop clearance to fine-tune handling and comfort.

 Dinan-spec progressive bumpstops improve ride quality at lowered ride heights.

 Dinan strut and shock mounts improve suspension travel by 12mm in front & 7mm in rear.

 Front strut mounts are slotted to allow easy camber adjustment between -1.2° and -3.2°.

 Increased caster

 Strut mounts are machined from 6061-T6 aluminum, and uses BMW torsion bearing with heavy-duty rubber and Delrin internal components for superior performance and quiet operation, compared to noisy spherical bearing style mounts.

 Front & rear Dinan components are compatible with 2.50” I.D. racing springs.

 Compatible with BMW EDC shocks.

RACING-ONLY PRODUCT.

Installation: 12.0 hours (includes alignment)

Installation Comments:

Due to the extensive lowering possible and the increased suspension travel, the installer must carefully evaluate tire clearance under all situations. Safety will be compromised if all precautions are not taken.

Kit Price:

$2699.00

Holly crap... just get KW or GC and call it a day. That's way over priced for height adjustable springs.

I don't get it. Why is this 3x as much as the KW sleeve kit? Does it include anything additional other than increased camber adjustment?

Lol...was hoping it'd be about a grand less, then I would have jumped on this solution.

These are now comparable to V3s. I just don't get it. I'm sure they are great, but just so overpriced.

I don't understand why it would be a "race-only" product. The linear springs and other components are more hardcore... but why would anyone want to use stock shocks on a track application? The stock shocks are one the main weaknesses in the stock system if you are looking for performance. Then they talk about ride quality and reducing noise... on a race-only product?!

I'm guessing that the increase travel comes at the expense of reliability...hence the race only designation. Don't think Dinan wants to keep covering BMW OEM EDC shocks and struts.

price wise makes no sense. I had to read it twice to believe it was only springs! at this price level and installation time - go KW DDC and have it all.

Can you imagine how much a BMW dealer/Dinan service dept would charge for that!!

Also, NOBODY who already has a Dinan suspension (at least the stage III) is ever going to to rip it out and pay for this minor upgrade.

I thought TC Kline conversion kit for EDC was overpriced, but this kit for that price doesnt make sense. Race application only means no worranty, so who is going to buy it?

I think I have the first one on order. Definitely pricey, but only one way to find out how it works. My dealer is also a Dinan dealer so makes it easy for me. Just have to line up another track day for the true test!

Thats $2,700 plus at least $1,400 labor according to the dealer who did all my Dinan mods. I'm sure we are all interested how it turns out, and of course not just for the track.

I will keep you posted once I get it installed. Hopefully in the next week or so. Will let you know how it is on the street as well.

I had coilovers on my 08 (Moton) which was a huge improvement over stock and took care of the body roll. Once the car was set up properly I really didnt play with the suspension settings much, just street and track. I dont drive my M3 much as its not my daily driver. I had done a ton of mods to my old M3 including a supercharger. This time I decided to just do some dinan mods and a BBK and keep the car relatively stock other than a few sets of wheels. (Mostly for track). The ZCP suspension is actually pretty good right out of the box. Since I already have the Dinan mods and my dealer is a Dinan dealer they are the only one touching my car which works for me.

Mostly I am curious about the Dinan suspension and it will allow me to corner balance the car, lower it slightly and and dial in some additional camber for the track which is really my goal. It also retains the EDC which is fine although I personally dont see much difference between the settings on my '12
