From what Mike told me, it may or may not work depending on the nav module.

Thank you everyone for your comments! I'm glad you are enjoying the coding.

I am still working on a video to put together, and after that's done I will be working on a pricing scheme, as well as some options for remote coding, etc..

A couple notes:
1) As of a couple days ago, I can code the 2009-2012 CIC Hard Drive Based navigation units. I had some issues writing to them before, but they have been resolved.

2) Successfully coded a car that had racing seats - it was throwing a bunch of codes and the Multiple Restraint System malfunction in the iDrive. After recoding it, no lights or anything, and the rest of the airbag system remains in full effect.

3) I have tested coding and have been successful on the E60 5 Series, E70/E71 X5 and X6 (up to 2011 models), E89 1 Series, and the F01 (new 2012 5 series)

4) DVD-in-Motion - I have unlocked the menus that allow this to be enabled, however, am trying to determine how to access the hidden menu. It's a work in progress, and although it's not possible yet, I should be able to do it soon. Working on getting some info from Germany to make it happen.

Update: DVD in motion now possible.

I am way behind schedule organizing group buys for this and organizing all of the data that I have. However, I am working on it and please check the forum in the near future for a complete list as well as videos of the functions in action on a few different chassis variants.

Please contact me if you would like coding done to your vehicle, and stay tuned for the video.

Thank you,
Mike Benvo

This isn't the type of "coding" referred to in this thread - but the answer to your question is Yes - the CEL can be removed for the cat efficiency codes while keeping the CEL in effect for all other problems that may arise. If you would like this done, please contact me. It's usually packaged with our Stage II engine tunes.

Also FYI: I am working on remote laptop/flashing kits. We will be trying it in the DC area group buy first, and after that group of cars is complete it can go to another state for a group coding session there. Those of you local to SoCal, please contact me.

Thanks,
Mike

Edit: Remote programming for everything is now available.

Thanks Mike for the coding updates!

Here's what he did:

*Folding mirror w/ key fob (nice feature)
*Comfort close w/ key fob (close all windows, moonroof, and mirrors)
*Unlock all doors after the engine is off (my favorite feature right now)
*Refuel guidance in the Nav when you have a destination selected (very cool, I used this on my drive home and it's great, allows you to select which gas station you want to re-direct to based on the number of calculated miles left in your tank)
*Corner headlight delete (much classier looking, I left the side corner LEDs)
*Moonroof auto closes if the rain sensing mode is ON and water is detected (nice to have, not as practical since it doesn't rain that much here)
*Instant MPG (very useful just to be able to see this)

Two things I'm still interested that Mike is working on:

*Auto day/night mode for iDrive when headlights are ON/OFF
*DVD-in-Motion

Great to work with and look forward to seeing what else he can enable over time. Thanks again!

The entire process takes about 45 minutes from start to finish, depending on the number of options you want coded.

Before I perform any coding, I do the following:
1) Make a backup of the vehicle order
2) Make a backup complete of the CAS and FRM/NFRM modules (which contains the coding for all of the sub modules)
3) Make a backup of each specific module that is changed
4) Note the hardware and software versions of those modules

After those steps, I perform the coding, document what was changed, and finally test the new functionality.

The majority of the time is spent on #1-#4 above.

I could code an entire car in less than ten minutes, but I go through those steps to make sure that everything is done right and double checked, and to make sure that all of the factory files are completely backed up so they can always be restored for whatever reason at hand. Better safe than sorry.
