Actually, I need to contradict myself because the outgoing M3 listed at something around 73K, and I seriously doubt the new one will be less than the outgoing model...
One can always hope though... Quote:

So, the 335i sedan costs $1900 less than the 335i coupe, but lacks the fold down rear seats and sport suspension that the sedan has standard. One you add those two options to the sedan (which requires adding the sport package to both cars, which is prorated based on content), the price difference is less than $1000.
The M3 sedan costs $2700 less than the M3 coupe, but obviously has the same suspension setup. It probably only lacks the fold down seats. So I suppose the rest of the difference is the carbon fibre roof? But, I wonder if that also means you have to pay extra to get a sunroof on the sedan unlike on the coupe where its a no-cost option. |

CF roof is not an option on the sedan.
A 17% increase on the coupe is quite amazing. That is huge.

Everyone is happy because they were all pumped up by wholly inaccurate magazine guesses on $60k+ MSRP. If you check back at my posts, I always proclaimed it would be under $60k and for people not to panic by these mags guesses. The sedan price is good, they stretched a little too far for the coupe. Would be nice to know their reasons.

I'm considering canceling my order and getting an S5 with "close enough" performance numbers and all the bells and whistles for 15K less. I definitely dont need EDC and M Drive for the price, and think the new technology is somewhat ridiculous anyways. I also don't like the idea of cloth seats on a 57K dollar car. Seriously, most of the options on this thing are "must haves" if you ask me, and getting them is going to put me in the 65-70K range. The option prices are going to be the deal breaker for me.
S5 is starting to make a lot more sense. Better bang for the buck. |

You're going to get an optioned S5 for $55k?
I hope you aren't using manufacturer performance numbers as your means of comparison. The M3 numbers are clearly quicker than BMW published numbers. example 0-60 in 4.1-4.4 vs BMW 4.8s

Best to just go test all the cars and decide then. That's what I'll do, though I admit it would take a lot to pull me from the M3. |
