The difference is 4 points, 93 US = 97-98 European.

It depends on MON and RON octane; however this website says is 4 to 5 points, so I guess you're right! I got my info from Shell V-power where I assumed that V-power EU = V-power US (RON 98-100 vs AKI 93)

There are 2 methods to determine Octane rating: RON and MON.
MON basically has more stringent testing conditions, i.e. heated fuel which contributes to more knocking, and it is usually 8-10 lower than RON. The system usually used in the US is called "AKI", which is an average between RON and MON. AKI=(RON+MON)/2. Therefore, AKI is usually about 4-5 lower than RON. Example: RON=100 MON=90 AKI=95 |
