I don't think guys who put those Mbadges on their cars give a $hit what you think.

I agree with that... BMW - why do you put the ///M on non-M cars? This doesn't make sense to me, it waters down the brand. They WANT the //M to stand for something and set those models apart, so why bastardize their own branding?

It's their brand so they can do whatever they want, it's just confusing that's all. Not sure what their thinking is. Sure, they can sell some extra "stuff" by slapping an //M on it, but doesn't that defeat THEIR purpose of having an //M brand - to set their cars apart??

Yes, perhaps this space cadet got an M-Sport Package on his 328i, but what's up with re-badging his car with an ///M badge?

LOL, I must be lucky because 2 weeks ago in Palm Springs I saw a 335 coupe with M3 badges, and today, I saw a white 525 with fake M5 badges and side gills on it.... Stupid.....

There is no big difference, the branding is associated with the sign. This is like applying the "NIKE AIR" to a shoe without nike air technology, but not really, considering it is halfway correct, and what BMW is doing...
"If you can't attack the post attack the poster". Is that your mantra? I'll ignore the personal and address the topic:

There is NO external badging on an M Sport car. As I said, I own both, yet I'm not as bent out of shape as you are about it. An M car has bootlid/trunk & rev counter badging. A non M car does not. It's a simple distinction, but pretty easy for most.

This is wrong. There were ///M badges on all of my wheels before they were sent for powdercoating.

Basically, the anti-///M badge crowd doesn't want any external badging on the car but is ok with the interior M-sport logo'ing?

So the picture below of an "M7" is equally out of line...if not more so than the car in the OP?

Does it matter that there never has been a "true" M7?

Fyi, I don't really care either way but can appreciate both sides perspective. Fwiw, the M-sport wheels went in for powdercoating today and thus I will no longer have any ///M logos on the exterior of our 7.
Well if the M7 badge didnt give it away, the chrome wheels did.

Meh, I say just leave these poor guys alone. If putting an "M" badge on their car, or a Roundel on their donkey is what makes them happy, then let them have at it.
