Hi BimmerM,
Great detailed post, but I cannot view your included images anymore. They were showing last month. Anything you can do to get them back on this post? Much appreciated. |

They were there on 12/28 when I did my dad's car. If we can't recover them I would be willing to retake the photos.

What fuse is missing?
I have a 2011 M3 sedan, did this fix and didn't see any missing plastic pieces I needed, everything was as shown in the DIY. The DIY doesn't work however, and I couldn't find a post that confirmed the fuse that needs to be present. Anyone have more information on this?

Just did this mod to my 11 E90, thanks to everyone on the board that contributed!
A thought: I wonder if there is a source where we could get a decal with the rear fog light symbol to put onto the switch? Wear might be an issue since it is a sticker/decal, but worth a thought. I looked on eBay but did not see anything in my brief search.

Thanks OP! I did this today.
Can't believe some people finished it in 10-15 mins the vent was a pain in the ass to get off.

is that the only thing those bulbs are meant for? I was wondering what those bulbs did when I was doing a manual lights check on my car and I couldn't find any condition where those lights lit up.

A few questions:
1. once the mod is complete, does the button depress and stay depressed, or does it pop back up, so the only way of knowing the button is activated is by the indicator light in the instrument cluster? 2. once depressed, does the vehicle retain the "on" state after the car is turned off, then on again? Or does the button reset after the car is turned off? 3. for the folks who purchased the new switch, does the button have a light behind it when turned on, or when the headlights and instruments are lit? |
