The one and only M3 V8

Now that the next M3/M4 going to offer an inline 6 or a V6, are our M3s going to be the one and only V8. This amazing S65 is going out of production??!!!!!! I'm so damn happy I got the car the last minute and I'm defiantly keeping the car forever.

I second that motion! I want to keep this car and get the new M4 and maybe a E90 ZCP for a daily and track beater...

Planning to get the M4 too. But ill probably get 2yrs or so after its launch. I'm not gonna get a 1st production.

People worry too much. BMW M may have some teething pains, but the next car will be good and it will be the state of the art.

I love the S65 and the E90. I had an 08 and I currently drive a 2011.5 ZCP sedan.
I believe the V8 M3 is the best (but not most pure) M3 to date.

I had a E30 M3 (loved it, but it is as underpowered as it is exotic)
I had several E36 M3s, and still have a special one.
I've tracked multiple E46 M3s.
I owned and tracked an E39 M5, which was a delight.

The next M3/M4 will be all of the above:

- Different
- Quicker
- Faster (drag racers know the difference)
- Lighter yet Larger
- More complicated
- Less reliable (drivetrain)
- Better in all tangible regards when it is doing its tasks...

That said:
I won't sign up for a debut year car.
I'm not even sure i would BUY one.

But I will SURE AS HELL lease one, and laugh all the way to "turn in" day...

After that?
Too far in the future to even speculate.

Stop worrying.
Stop Hating change.

Yeah I agree. If the next gen. M3/M4 loses the normally aspirated high rpm engines and goes to turbo, and if it becomes even more complex and computerized, then I'll just get the GT-R, or maybe just keep the E90.

these threads get more and more stupid each time someone learns of the old news that the next generation M4 is going to be a biturbo I6.

this is simply the future of performance cars due to the upcoming mpg requirements of US spec cars.

Uh, you won't get the next gen M3/M4 because of turbos but you'll get a GT-R - which already has turbo's? LOL

I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you are worried about it, lease the car.

1. If you get a 2013 now (or even better, you ordered in December), you will getting the M3 at its lowest price point to date.
2. If the 2015 is great then you will still have the highest resale E9X M3.
3. If the 2015 is a let down and comes with engine noise piped through the speakers and a tuned 3-series family engine without ITBs; you will have the best of the last of the greats.

That said, each generation of this car is NOT better than the last. I think my E46 is the more involving driver's car. The E92 is the better all around car. I would suspect this trend will continue with the next model. In any case, I would like to have all three, and maybe an E30 in the future. Still haven't found time to have any love for the US-version E36.

To those of you that dismiss worries over the next model as baseless fear of change; I'd like to offer the counterpoint that the E9X was developed during a time of significant fiscal and economic prosperity. The mood during development during the successor is undoubtedly different. Some of the well-funded flourishes reminiscent of the deep pockets of that time, such as creating a 10mpg 8400rpm revving V10 for a single run of cars -- we will probably never see again.

This, to me, seems so accurate.
But on the last statement, I'm not quite as pessimistic. I think there will be, eventually, enough renegade buyers out there to tempt a car manufacturer into doing it.

Does it mean that I am one of the weirdos? Doing another ED on the last 2013 E92M3. Got the 2008 E92 M3 using ED also. Man, I am weird!

I guess I am a weirdo also since really thinking of going from a 2011 to a 2013. I have already 33k miles on my car and figure buying another one would be great to keep longer term with less use.

I am looking forward to seeing what the F8x has to offer. That's whats keeping me from buying a slightly used E9x.

Just before the E9x came out, the naysayers said it's too big and too well rounded and no longer a focused performance vehicle. Bottom line is every progression of the M3 thus far has resulted in a quicker and better performing machine.
