Hi Adam, I only drive in manual DCT mode. My concern was being able to downshift as I described above. If I cant do that (pedal all the way down, pull the handle back) without it causing issues, then I might not be a candidate for a supercharger. Im not looking to dump the clutch and go. Im looking to quickly downshift and go! Can 6MT guys not go from 6th to 3rd or 4th real quick too? If they can do it, DCT should be able to as well IMO. Know what I mean? If in auto mode, I would just hate for my wife to be driving along, peg the gas for whatever reason and it hurt the car. Thats all Im saying I have an issue with. The later is less of an issue to me. But I use the WOT, pull the paddle back every time I hit the onramp to the highway and I love it ever time! Quote:
Im glad I shared a DCT secret with you! I didn't know about it for a LONG TIME until someone showed me. If I wanted to downshift and go on the highway, it bugged the shit out of me to go 7-6-5-4 and go. At THAT TIME I would switch to automatic mode which would downshift to the lowest gear and sling shot me to the moon. Then a buddy showed me the DCT manual mode kickdown downshift and I feel in love with my DCT all over again. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do! Also... it sounds like I just need to go for a ride. The part where you said it just comes to effing fast might make off of this a moot point. Someone give me a ride!

The manual downshift mode you described causes the same issue as flooring it in auto mode in higher gear as mentioned. I tried it a few weeks back and actually threw a DCT overheat code quicker than I did when I used to punch it in auto mode.
I totally understand your feeling of wanting to go WOT on every on ramp. This was REALLY easy to do in an NA M3. On a s/c M3 no matter 500whp or 600whp, you need quite a lot of room on the highway to be redlining. Your car will be at 120+ in the same time you would normally hit 90 say taking off from 60ish. This is a HUGE difference on the highway. 90 is a little above flow of traffic. 120 is flying by traffic. I'm sure someone can break down the exact numbers to see what speed a stock M3 would be at compared to a blown M3 if they both took off at 50-60 for x amount of seconds. I'm just telling you a rough feel that I used to notice myself getting up to 90 on a brief WOT on ramp situation that now has become 120-130+. It is insane. I didn't imagine it being this fast and me not being able to go WOT redline every on ramp like I used to. Coming from a guy that used to use auto mode WOT quite often in my NA M3, you will not miss the manual drop down. Even if the feature worked without any clutch problems, I doubt I'd be using it much. Just drive a s/c M3. There has to be a ton of members around you. I'd you are in NJ for any reason come take mine for a spin. Just don't try the drop down change

Well, found out the issue finally. Its the freaking 275/45/18 drag radials. Something about the size/circumference is throwing the DMU/DCT off somehow. When i had my street tires on, the stick and paddles were working perfect. We figured it was the paddle at first, but ive been using it for the past 2/3 days with ZERO issues bringing her to 8600rpm to shift. I tossed on the drag radials for tonight, and BOOM, shift issues EVERYWHERE. I can shift sub 8k, but anything close or over it will cause the needle to dance at redline.

I'm supercharged and running the NT05, sized 295/35/18 and only once I get them very hot do they sorta hold. I'm going another route here very shortly, probably the RS3's. best of luck!

Yea. I ran a 12.5 @ 116 with a 2.0 with traction control on w/ no launch on street tires.
I run slower on my DR's because the car hooks to well and bogs me down to 2500rpm right away in 1st gear. Pretty depressing for a 625 kit, but thats what happens up here at 6k ft elevation. DA on the 12.5 was 8900 i believe.

Using Drag Times conversion calculator, for an S/C car that doesn't compensate for altitude, it converts to 11.091 at 130.001 MPH.

=( Im hoping for an 11.9 here as soon as i get some drag radials that don't change my effective gearing so much.
