2011 with 58k miles.
Now that I'm off warranty I can experiment with oil. Got about 2k miles on my experimental winter oil mixture; half Redline 40W race and half Redline 5W-30 street. I'll send a sample to be evaluated at around 5k miles. I'll change it at the mileage Blackstone recommends. No, I can't say that the thinner oil helped the engine's efficiency. Thought I saw a significant improvement after the oil change, but it has since settled back to roughly the economy I was getting before ... 20 - 21 mpg on the turnpike at 75-80 mph.

56k miles - 2008 E93 - never track but high-rev's regularly - only two issues: 1) now automatic trunk release not work with key fob and not work with trunk release - need to use manual key to open trunk; and 2) launch control not come up (used it successfully before in 2008-2009 - didnt even attempt to use again until a few months ago when
Unsuccessful - not tried since). Car runs great otherwise! |

At 42k miles, have had the first two things pop up in the past 1k:
-Battery needed replaced, car sat on dealer lot for first 18 months of its life so the battery did not have a good chance of survival, our '07 335 is still on the original battery -#5 coil and plug were replaced due to random misfire code P0305 Both still under warranty, under $500 in repairs if it had not been.

My early 08 just turned 62k this weekend, after a round trip to SF. No major problem (crossing fingers) except for the throttle actuator failure, which covered under warranty so no money out of pocket.

About to reach 64k miles (have had the car for 5k). During my ownership, changed 1 throttle actuator myself, as well as a new battery (went non-OEM route).

I have a 2008 M3.
Just before I put it away for winter, It had 99,600 km (almost 60k miles) longest trip was 3200 KM. They're great on the highway. Mine is an E92, I flew my wife/kids out so I can drive alone on the way there. We drove on the way back. Kids had no problems with the carseats (5yr old and 1 yr old) my only issue is.. my comfort access doesnt work. knock on wood, everything else has been great. |

2008 E90 M3.
69k Miles. Window Regulator went out ($70 DIY fix for the part, dealer wanted $450). Squeaky HVAC (rusted nut if you look inside the passenger side opening where the cabin filter sits, you will probably see a rusted nut as well on the blower). Will have to see if there's a DIY instead of just lubricating. |

Sounds and looks like some of us really enjoy the M3s. Keep going guys/gals. To this day, I still hope I never sold mine(@70k km, 3.5 years ownership)

I posted in another thread but I'll add it here.
I had the driveshaft replaced at 55.5K due to some play developing on the center u joint. Talk about a heckuva vibration. CPO until 4/2015, so it was pretty painless.

~48k miles, out of warranty within the week I've owned it since this summer. Love the car, but have had to take care of several things since I got her. Thankfully I caught some major ones while under warranty! AC Evaporator (just caught this, they will replace at my next visit) iDrive controller came loose (same as above) Rear sunshade motor replaced Trim on door pulls and around iDrive controller replaced Rattle in dash resolved I went ahead and picked up EasyCare TotalCare (3 yrs, 85k miles, $500 deduct) for ~$2600 for some peace of mind and a hedge against any huge bill in the next few years. These two repairs they're doing soon really opened my eyes some on the costs that come with this car. They have to remove the entire dash to get at the evaporator (would have been $2700) and have to replace the entire iDrive piece just because the epoxy broke (would have been $900). Gotta pay to play, I guess!

52k miles No major issues to report yet (knocking on wood...) -Sat radio used to freeze until a reprogramming -Various squeak rattle fixes (I obsess about these): Replaced center armrest console to cure a "clicking" while leaning on it; passenger door panel creak; steering column rattle -Rear brakes done under free maintenance around 45k miles, computer says fronts have another 7,000 to go -Regular fluid changes and also have done inter-interval oil, brake and other fluids -two new windshields (gotta love Colorado) -lots of tires...
