Your quip would make a lot more sense if you said "I feel like the only people who dont want the M4 are those who cannot afford one."
Why you mad bro? Oh you got an outdated model and now you feel the need to explain yourself to strangers on internet.

That may be true, but this thread is about the 435i, not the M4. Also, as a general observation, I think it is safe to assume that most folks who bought a 2013 M3 were well aware that a new M was just around the corner, and chose to buy the E9X M3 instead. And as another poster pointed out, some of those folks may trade their '13 car for the new M, if that is their desire.

when i got my 13 M3. i knew the M4 was coming, but i wanted a E92 m3 since 2009. it was something i needed to have for personal reasons. i knew it was outdated in terms of performance for the money.

it feels great to get a car sole on the reason that its what you want and love. not caring about impressing people or if its the newest thing out.

although i do like the idea of having the newest thing, doesn't mean i live my life in that fashion.

also when i got my 13 M3 the m4 was in real time two years away. plus i don't want the first year M4. so really i have no problem grabbing a 2015 M4. maybe i will want one then. or maybe i want want a real performance car and grab the new C7 Z06 (zo7)

What ?! No f....g way
2013.99 M3 owner and could not care less about a winded TC engine like in the M4 with its anti-lag trick that only works "when you give short burst of throttle acceleration and in racing situations" (BMW's own words). In all other situation (99.9%) it is going to have the normal lag as in any turbo engine. That is no fun. I don't even need to mention the half dozen other things I don't like ab that particular car.

Makes sense, but if I'm worried about depreciation what business do I have buying a car brand new anyway? I'd be much better off getting into a low miles '11 lease turn in at 57k instead of what I paid for the new one.

Depreciation has little impact on my car purchase decision making process because at the time of purchase. All I care is that I like the car and it is the one I want. If I leased cars I'd have to consider depreciation more because residual value affects lease payments.

This car is a commodity. There are many like it and I will own many more nicer ones in the future. It would not be ideal if some unforeseeable circumstance forced a sale one year into ownership. But that's a risk as is the simple act of driving.

This what everyone who bought a 2013 M3 says to feel better about the big depreciation hit and by M4s that will pull away every time. The M3 is a phenomenal car, just enjoy it an be proud to have the last of a great model run, but to dismiss something that really no one has driven, reviewed, or even seen the full package yet has no credibility with me. looking forward to some honest and objective feedback when we get there including me who had one for 3 years and about to get an M4. I will be the first to keep it real.

But wait your first post was "no way would I want an M4.." Now you would consider a 2015 M4 which is it? Not picking an argument but just pointing out why 13 owners seem like a sour grapes bunch sometimes. And if you do get that 2015 you will have the ZCP after driving a sweet new E92 for 3 years. I would not mind that deal even with the depreciation since it's perfect M timing!

i really dont want to sound ignorant to the M4. which is why i say i might want one. the truth is i am not a fan of the new engine. i am not a person who buys a car based on how fast it is. so really the car performing better is not enough for me to want it. If they threw a V10 engine in the next M4 i would be on the order list at my dealership.

but one thing i have learned in life is that i cant ever say never. so with that said no whos what car i am going to want in 3 years

I think its funnier that there are guys willing to buy an M4 in its first model year with a new turbo engine without even test driving it.

A fool and his money.........

I have a 11 E90M and I'm only slightly interested. I liked the past M3s for the bespoke engine/parts and AWESOME noise. This new car has what, a tuned 335i engine (also in the X1 though, that's good!) and fake noise.

Before my E92 M3 ZCP DCT, I had a 2012 335is. My original plan was to keep the 335is for two years then buy the new M4 coupe. When I learned that the M4 was to have an I-6 with multiple turbo chargers, I changed my mind - I had an I-6 with multiple turbo chargers and I really disliked its throttle response - even after adding Dinan software to improve the car's power curve.

The explosive nature of the the way the power came on line made it difficult to accurately dial the back-end out. The turbo-lag, as minimal as it was, still meant that, when cornering, you still had to push the accelerator down before you actually needed the power and guess how much you needed.

I definitely understand your perspective. If I had a turbo car for a bunch of years I'd definitely be interested in what the E92 M had to offer.

Over the weekend i saw a guy in his brand new is350 fsport bust a uturn and then floor it. When he made the uturn i thought hey that looks pretty good (at night) and when he floored it i said out loud wow that sounds pretty good. The induction noise was pretty sweet.

Then i thought shit sounds a lot like how a bmw used to sound, not like some turbo engine.

I know in the pics they look hideous and the car was black so it hid some of the predator face

But sound wise, 1000% better than the new f3x.

I think it looks pretty good in person but much better in black, again, to hide that predator face
