Help!! tires are rubbing..

Hey everyone,

I need some help..I recently bought some Linea Corse Z20's for my E92 M3..The vender recommended that I get 245 35 20 for the front. Plus I have lowered the car with H&R sport springs and now they are rubbing when I turn. Should I got with 245 30 20 in the front instead? Please help!!

What are the wheel widths and offsets? What does the vendor now say?

245/30/20 is the correct size.

That's like me going 245/40/19 in the front which is just wrong.

If it were 255/30/20 then sometimes it rubs sometimes it doesn't and maybe the vendor didn't know fully on that specific tire and you can't put the blame on him. But 245/35/20 is the completely wrong tire size, you should get a full replacement if the vendor is legit.

I'm not sure what the offset is. I got the rims at Euro-Dyne and the sales man there told me it was a direct fitment for the e92 m3. He told me to get 275 30 20 rear and 245 35 20 front. I thought it was kind of old to get 30 for the rear and 35 for the front. Is anyone running 245 30 20 on their e92 m3 and does it rub?

The 245 35 20 tires are rubbing only when I turn and it's rubbing on the backside of the inner wheel well..Before I purchase some new 245 30 20 tires, I wanted to make sure it wouldn't rub..

The dealer should replace the tires with 235's or you need to get your fenders rolled.

I dont think so.

OP - Offsets dont seem right at all for the E9X M3 - Hopefully all you need is spacers.

What should I do?
WOW...you've got to be kidding me...

These wheel sizes and offsets were actually recommended to you by a vendor for the E92 M3? Seriously?

Those offsets are way off base for this car.

The stock wheel offsets look great by comparison...

You need to find competent salesman who actually knows what they are doing.

The only three options you have now are:

a) Buy a set of huge spacers (front and rear) to correct these terrible offsets

or

b) Return the wheels for another size that has better offsets

or

c) Return the wheels and ask for a complete refund (this is what I would do)

Those offsets are completely wrong for an M3.

you'll need something like a 15mm spacer in front and a 20mm spacer in the rear to fix that

I wouldn't bother, I'd demand they take those rims back since they sold you shit

Man, you really need to find another vendor if this is the kind of advice they are giving you.

That tire size fitment isn't even close...

The overall diameter of a 245/35/20 tire is 26.8" which has zero chance of fitting the front axle of a E9xM3 without rubbing. (no matter which offset value you chose)

245/30/20 (25.8") is the correct tire size.

So if I replace the 245 35 20 tire with the 245 30 20 will this correct the issue with the front wheel? The rear wheel doesn't rub at all.

Rubbing yes. As far as looks go no I'm postiive with those offsets ANY wheel on this E9X M3 will look terrible. I'd much rather have stock over offsets like that.

Z20s come in 20x8.5/20x10, offset is +15 all around, the offset you listed is wrong.

Hi Vinh,

It's me Jo...the guy who sold you these wheels. I'm not quite sure how you got those numbers for the offsets, but if you have the time to verify things, please take a look at the boxes and even the numbers printed on the label in the inner barrels. The wheels I sold you are ET15 all around. I even have the purchase orders in file from Linea Corse for those offsets. As for the rubbing issues, I'm not quite sure why it would do that. Not to sound dumbfounded or anything, but even the guys at Linea Corse and Wheeldude recommend those tire sizes I gave you. As cross reference, please look at this link below:

http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/pro...oducts_id=6343

I've also had other customers who we've sponsored to go events like SEMA that run those tire sizes and don't have any rubbing issues. I'll check with those guys what they did to make sure that rubbing wasn't a concern for them.

Anyway, I'm not a sponsor on this forum anymore. But you know my email address, I'm here to help. I was actually surprised why you didn't approach me in the first place. Anyway, I'll take ownership on any errors we make and would also extend our customer service even it wasn't our fault. If you need help in covering charges for fender rolling, I'll extend myself too. If you were only local, I'd even personally go with you to TWS who is our local shop that does many of our customer's fender rolling. Anyway, please keep me posted. Please tell Stacey I said hi!

EDIT: Khoa, thanks for bringing this thread to my attention. Vendors like you truly care for the community.

Responding in a bit =)...

And just for reference, even Captain LT has tried and tested the same ET and tire sizes. Just got off the phone with him, he says he didn't have any issues either.

Make sure that the tires are not mounted backwards on the front.

That's just weird..I've seen this rim on other M3's before in these forum so I just figured there wouldn't be any issues. But when I turn it definitely rubs. It has created some holes on the inside of the wheel well.. I haven't been driving the car until I get my new set of tires tomorrow from tire rack.

Ouch...that's not good at all.

Hey vinh,

Are you sure that your front tire size is 245/35/20?

Because that tire size is way too big for the front wheels on this car.

The maximum overall tire diameter that you can run on the E9xM3 is ~ 26.0" max. (255/30/20)

Anything larger than this will definitely rub away at the wheel liners, since the available clearances from the factory are so tight.

245/35/20 tires have an outside diameter of 26.8" which is almost an entire inch over the limit.

That's the reason your wheel liners are damaged. (assuming that your wheel offsets aren't wrong as well)

The M3 simply doesn't have enough room inside the front wheel well to accommodate such a large tire. (without suffering some rubbing damage)

Are you absolutely sure the guy who sold you these wheels told you that was the correct tire size?

Please keep us updated on this situation.

I'm curiuos to see what went wrong here. (wrong tire size, wrong wheels offsets, or both)
