Got Eibachs installed on my e90 - before and after
When I was deciding on whether to drop my car I loved reading before/afters, so I thought I'd post my own for others benefit - though I know Eibachs are old hat around here.
When I bought my e90, it was a standard model with EDC, but no ZCP. This was the car on day one: I wanted a change in the wheels, so I switched them out for 220Ms (edit: should read 359M): The wheels looked great, but the front fender gap was really accentuated with the 19 inch wheels. The problem is that the 19s really changed the stance of the car compared to the 18s. I didn't want a slammed look, but I wanted something lower which closed up that gap and tightened the stance. I wavered between the Dinan and Eibach and ultimately decided for the latter: Different view - before: And after: I'm very happy with it. In person, the ride height and gap is perfect for me. I wouldn't dare go lower with our roads, speed bumps and driveways around here. We'll see if it settles down lower. It's subtle, but obviously lower in person. Here's a comparison of the fender gaps: Before: After: I'm withholding judgement on the handling. There is nothing obviously off and the ride is pretty close to stock. I still need to let it settle and get it aligned. That said, so far so good. I really can't imagine anything more conservative than this and after seeing the drop, I'm not too worried about premature wear. Edit: Added Macht Schnell 12/10 spacers Last edited by Rk-d; 04-25-2013 at 09:39 PM.. |

Best pics Ive seen yet. You clearly show the gap and the contrast is good to actually see the gap. Most pictures people are are in the sun which makes it hard to tell exactly how much gap is removed. Nice job man.

Pics can be misleading for sure - the Eibach drop is definitely conservative, which is what I was looking for. Another angle |

Good picts for sure and comparison. For added info., the ZCP and Eibach are close to each other. Front is a two finger gap, loose vs. tight, respective to each option.

OP nice pics illustrating the difference, personally not one for the slammed look too so appreciate the subtle drop. I think you meant you swapped out to 359Ms not 220Ms

^^+1 if those are OEM wheels that you switched to, then they're the 359M's
but nonetheless your car looks great with the drop, thanks for sharing!

For me, the Eibach drop is definitely lower than the ZCP, but it's not a huge difference - you are correct that they are close. I'm actually glad for that - as soon as I saw it in person, I felt a lot more comfortable about it. I doubt (hope) the additional wear from this drop is going to do much. |

For comparison, here is my ZCP car with Eibach's installed. The height ends up even slightly lower in the front since the perches are lower on the ZCP struts!
Your car looks GREAT on the Eibach's with the ZCP's |

Just to follow up - I haven't hit the bumpstops and the handling difference is negligible. The car is stiffer and damping seems best matched in Sport EDC mode, as opposed to Comfort. Overall ride comfort is very stock feeling. Incidentally, I went with OEM bumpstops and not the e36 ones, after mulling it over for a few days before the install.
These cars looks so much better with a subtle drop - anyone on the fence should go for it. |

Thanks! It's the pro-kit. -0.8 in/ -0.6 in f/r. Works out to ~ 2cm front/1.5cm rear. For comparison, ZCP is supposed to be a 10mm drop all the way around. I may end up getting 15/12 spacers to set the wheels out a little - haven't decided yet if I want to do that.

You may rub with spacers. I'm on Eibachs, 220M's w/PZero's, stock sizes and rub in the rear with only 10mm spacers...not even full compression, just on decent dips. I'm also on the aggressive end of a street alignment. There's just not that much travel before you hit that liner nub in the back.
