were you present the entire time they installed the exhaust? that sounds absolutely horrible and i'm surprised you are not displaying codes.

Is that the bov opening and closing that I am seeing? Been out of turbos for a decade so I'm not familiar with that specific bov but they certainly aren't supposed to open and close rapidly like that, if that is what I'm seeing. Hard to get a close look on the phone.

someone had a similar knocking noise that was vacum line under the manifold/connected to bypass valve...research this forum and see if it pops up, he even posted a couple of videos so we could hear the sound. to be honest, your knock sounds pretty bad. how that came about from changing the exhaust is pretty questionable, that is why i asked if you were there during the install.

That's terrible news....and suspect. If it was running just fine when you brought it to them and then running like this when you got it back it sounds like the shop did this. And a week to do the exhaust? Wtf? Sounds like someone had a week of fun at your expense. Did you record the mileage?

Totally agree with Doc, I'd investigate this in freaking detail with the shop. I hope you snapped a pic of the mileage, if not I'd still find ways to go to the bottom on what have happend during the week they had the car mate.
Also whats up with the 24V jump start? If you mean they used 24V supply on the 12V system, I'd expect front end electronics could have burned. And what garage is doing that..?! Good luck! |

Why did they need to jump start the car? And a week to fit an exhaust?
Please tell me you recorded the mileage! Last edited by modkrazy; 10-16-2015 at 02:59 PM.. Reason: refreshed and saw the piston news! |

OP, A few things, and feel free to reach out to me via email or have the shop who installed the kit do as well ;Tom@autocouturemotoring.com or PM directly here. After personally installing 128 new and used ess vtx e9x kits I can honestly say that all E9x vehicles "can handle" a supercharger as long as there isn't under lying issues with the car.
-Was leak down and compression performed before supercharging? or after the car starting running as it is now? -What type of mileage are you at now, pre/post drop off -Have you had a recent oil sample done -What type of exhaust was installed, i.e. something that is valvetronic in nature like an innotech? -Who tuned the car ? That "panting" condition you are witnessing at the BOV is a very odd vacuum signal. It could be easily be caused by a piston that has failed, but it is difficult to condemn an individual part failure like that without some in depth diag as apposed to bad vacuum hookup or for instance an idle actuator that is failing. The idle in conjunction with that symptom does not sound good but it very could be something valvetrain related as well. You mentioned that one cylinder isn't firing even though you changed the plug and coil. Is this cylinder getting spark ? Changing parts is a good way to sort out if you have an individual small part failure, but wont help to determine if those pieces are being told to fire from the DME. As you have located the cylinder that is not doing what it is designed to, measure the signal at the harness, and perform leak down and compression on that cylinder in addition to as many others as you can easily reach. Please let me know how you make out and if there's any way I can assist remotely Best of luck |
