This is so true that's frightening I am a younger gent and everytime I go to the local car meets there seems to be a gaggle of my male peers gathered around it, looking at it as if it was the holy grail of all things automotive. Yet I still have yet to see a group of girls gather around it, which would be a much better received scenerio in my book.

So true haha! I don't have a wife, but whenever my gf and I are going out I get bummed out when I can't take my car. She also makes fun of me for looking at it all the time.
The rear window thing STILL gets me!

When you tell people you drive a 3 series, just to see their jaw drops when they find out what kind of 3 series it is.

You plan parking spots carefully to avoid plonking your 7 foot long doors on your 2 door.

I don't know about the M part, but the sales manager was a bit surprised when she was raving about the "high rev'ing engine" on the M3, and I replied, "Only 8,400?"

That's a sure sign that you either own an AP1 S2000 or a superbike.

When dropping off your kids somewhere the last thing you say isn't "love you" or "see you later", it's "make sure you close the door using the door handle!"

I don't ever say this. Perhaps it is because my gear head 7 year old knows as much about the car as I do. When I get in, he automatically hits the start button, shifts it into the correct gear and hits the Homelink button if necessary. When we get out he automatically uses the convenience panel to lock the doors.

His feet never go on the seats and he treats it like it was his own car-because he's already planning on somehow getting ahold of it when he's old enough. He's even pesting me to teach him how to drive the 6MT on the S2000, always insisting on shifting gears whenever it's safe.

Anyone who complains that BMW doesn't have enough automation and tech just isn't driving with the correct passengers. My car has literally auto-EVERYTHING.

can you teach me to train my wife to be this way?

edit: actually she's partially there already - she always reaches over to turn off the M button and/or the power button when she gets in the passenger seat

You know you drive an E90 M3 when you can physically see the damn fuel level gauge moving towards empty as soon as you pull out of the gas station after filling the tank.

Love this. How true. Ever tried hypermiling an M3? It's pretty stressful. One time I left the track on fumes, with 30mi to go before the next gas station. I ended up driving at 50-55mph in 7th gear in the right lane of the Jersey Turnpike, with Semis, minivans, and Geo Metros blowing by me on the left.

You know you own an E9X M3 when...

You have a car to use for runs to the grocery store

You have a car to use for runs to Home Depot

You have a car to use for getting your kids to school

You have a car to use for taking your spouse out for a nice dinner

You have a car to use for rippin' it up at trackdays

...and it's just one car

I love this car

. . . you are involved in an accident, and before ascertaining whether or not everyone is O.K., you first survey the damage to the car.

(kidding, didn't actuallly do this)

Man, I feel like I can relate to 90% of these. I think that I may have a car addiction of some sort. Help, Jeff VanVonderen! I need an M-tervention! (wha wha)

You know you have an M3 when buying a house or looking for an apartment all you think and care about is that it must have sufficient space in the garage for all your car stuff (or a garage in general), a hose or some type of water supply so you can clean your car, seeing where the sun rises and sets so you can wash it in the shade just at the perfect time.

Love the detailer and MF one! When doing errands with the GF I will purposely at times delay going into the store, just so I can give her a quick wipe down for any light dust on the car in the parking lot (the looks I have got from people are priceless).

That damn window on the E90 cracks me up as well...freaking buttons. Owned the car for almost 3 yrs now and still do that on the regular!

You know you have an M whenever you see a a nice car (sports cars for me) on the road in traffic or driving by you give it a little rev or drop down a gear just so the car passing by knows what they just as and heard (GF called me out on this a few weeks ago that I always do this..I say I'm just driving the car..ha)..hey I'm in my 30s and I still act like a kid..gotta stay young at heart!

Lastly for me is when every time I see it, touch it or drive it I just feel very happy, big shit eating grin and an honor to own this Beautiful machine.

Cheers guys! Go Pats!

when you care more about your hair or outfit before you get in the car, then when you go on a date with your wife. or when your typing "professional detailing techniques" in google / YouTube.
