Some People's Kids
Well, after a nice lunch I come out and find that this had happened in the parking lot.
No note of course. I'll be taking it in (of course) for repair. Is there anything aftermarket I could upgrade with at this point or is OEM my only option? I shouldn't have taken the day off I guess.

Looks like it's only the bumper so that's good news. I would just keep it stock.

not a good end to the week, sorry to see. Should be a somewhat simple fix though if there are no ripples in the body, just the bumper.

What's it got to do with kids? I'd stick to OEM personally.

Ouch!! Don't think you have too many good options with the rear bumpers. But if you are going to claim insurance, might as well change your taillights to OEM blackline.

Anyone that does not step up to the bar and take responsibility for his or her action is in my book a kid! To this end I strongly agree with the OP using "kids" in his post.
Sorry this happen OP ... hope it works out for you ... a new bumper will run around 1K then add labour and paint. I recommend you stay with OEM parts, it soon be forgotten. Good Luck!

sorry about your luck! That is a bummer. I think you're looking at $700-ish for a new bumper and respray, or a repair and respray. At least it is only the bumper and not the fender, otherwise you'll need to blend paint.

I hate assholes who don't take responsibility for their actions. Time to invest in a black box, dash cam, or whatever the hell it's called. Front and rear camera is the first thing I'm gonna get for my M3.

We've got an over supply of idiots here in Houston. Similiar thing happened to my 335, came out from Office Depot and a nice long dented scrape down the left rear quarter. The funny thing is there was this old couple that were getting into their car right next to mine and I had this feeling that I should stay and watch them pull out, but I didn't follow my gut and went inside. Came out to my dented baby.

Thanks for all the positive replies everyone.
I spoke with my local dealership and sent my SA the picture. I have had fantastic service from their onsite body shop and they told me they could fix it for $550. I have a $500 deductible so I will go this route instead of filing a claim. Dropping it off on Monday and will have it back by Wednesday. I'll post up the pictures. Had a similar issue a few months ago with someone opening a door of a Tahoe right into my back passenger side door that had similar damage. They were able to make it look brand new. Too nice of a day in Houston today to have these problems!
