Test drove an Evo MR when I was looking into potential alternatives to the E90 that I ended up getting. It was very fun and quick, and I didn't notice turbo lag which was nice. The ride was a lot better than I had expected it would be for a car that seemed to be more about performance than comfort.
But with all that said, the M3 still felt quicker to me and put more of a smile on my face both when driving at it and just looking at it. Also I don't know if it's just me, but the shifting definitely felt slower than the M3's DCT. Also the interior of the Evo was very spartan for the kind of money it was commanding. The M3 feels like a luxury car on the inside and is such a killer DD, by comparison the Evo's interior seems more like an afterthought. All in all, I still think the Evo is a fantastic car, and I think anyone who owns one will likely love it to death, but for just a bit more than a new one, I'd personally rather have a used M3 haha. |

F1 - the fastest road racing in the world. They use a RWD drivetrain.... this AWD is faster BS means nothing. You have a real car, they have a matchbox car. Enjoy it!!!

There's places where AWD is good, there's places where RWD is good. F1 lives in the world where 100% of front tyre traction is used for direction change, and none is left for braking or putting down power. Downforce generates all the traction needed for the rears to suffice acceleration-wise. -scheherazade |

Stock for stock the a e90 m3 would rape a stock evo 8 or 9 but once you start modding the evo they surprise many cars. A evo with a 35r and full supporting mods will make 500 whp on pump gas and run low 11's to high 10's in the quarter mile at trap speeds of 125-130 mph. As far as those people who think the m3 will destroy the evo from a roll above triple digit speeds try racing a 500-600 whp evo and see how bad you get walked. Just to throw this out there also a well setup evo handles pretty well. Some of the fastest time attack cars are evos and they hold many records at tracks for fastest lapped times.

FWIW my evo would walk most m3 and it only had a K&N filter, full exhaust and tune. And for those saying RWD is king, there is nothing like launching 400 whp @ 5k through 4 wheels leaving sideways.
I used to run consistent 12.2 @ 114 mph. They're amazing cars, and I have owned many Mitsu. And yes, the interior is spartan.... that's the point |
