Chevrolet SS
Was curious so I took a look at the new Chevy SS. If you were a fan of the Pontiac G8 then this car is a decent successor. Exterior is more generic, interior is far nicer (except for some bogus fake racing seat harness pass throughs).
Car has LS3, front brembos, and alcantara inserts. Anyone test drive and want to compare to E90?

I got to ride in a G8 GT recently and was surprised how well it was built but then the owner claimed interior and design wasnt done by GM and Holden did it.
I will be looking for a decent 4 door sedan fairly soon, still debating to hold out for the new M3 but i might look into SS. I've heard GM will only make 5000 of these which will make them somewhat "rare" and hard to find. I have found couple locally and dealers are already asking a $5k premium so i didnt even bother to look at one. Still, for around $45k you get a lot along with that sweet LS3.

My last car was a G8 GXP with a manual, and that car was very pendulous when making any spirited turns, gripped pretty good but it swayed pretty bad. Other than that I liked the styling and unique look. The SS is a really nice refresh in the interior, and an okay one for the exterior. The high use of chrome everywhere on the front is kind of annoying also the door handles have a splash of it too. I plan on looking at one this weekend just to see it in person.

I loved the G8 GT when it was around (never got to drive a GXP), and hopefully they will bring a 6MT or 7MT version of the SS here soon
I'd label it more of a half price M5 or budget CTS-V rather than comparing it to a smaller car

I was also damned fond of my son's 2005 GTO, AKA "The Zookeeper", documented here. Fast, comfy, and good on gas. Bruce PS - Folks who express outright prejudices (of whatever nature) tend to run a few watts short of full brightness, in my experience. |
