If I were you Op, I would run back to the dealership and buy it.
You can own a classy bmw when you are an old man, now have fun an enjoy life, buy a Z06.

Why would anyone spend that much time in a dealership and not come home with a new car is beyond me. That was a HUGE waste of time

On a side note, if you save a little coin, you could get into a pre-owned ZR-1

Back to the Z06, its a monster. Got to respect its performance. LOL at the M3 folks bitching about the interior. Its the same defense every time "crappy" cars like the GT-R, GT500, ZL1...etc are being compared to the M3. It's getting old folks. I know! ...let's bitch about the crappy stereo that these cars have compare to our awesome Premium sound system =)
I 100% agress with you. Other companies are stepping up there game. They know the interior has been a negative for them, but that's changing. People have to give props when props are due.

As far as the interior is concerned, with such a high performance car as the 'Vette, are you really sitting in there driving and admiring your interior??

I recently (2 months ago) found a fantastic deal on a 997 Turbo which I think will keep me happy for quite a while as it provides Z06 (or better) type power while maintaining that European build quality and intangibles that most American car companies cannot provide. Just installed a Softronic tune and the car is making 575 crank hp on 93 octane and stock exhaust.

You can pick up '07 and '08 Turbos and GT3's for somewhere in the $70's these days.
I like the 997 Turbo! Nice that you found a great deal too. Its tempting to me, but like you want to wait for those in my price range If i need to change. RUF autocentre is down the street from where I live, and I am sure you have heard of them as a legendary P-car tuner!

THAT is your Z06?!? I have been contemplating hocking the M3 for a Z06 ever since a dude came to a meet I was at with one that had simple bolt-ons and made over 500 WHP. I started looking at pictures to see what wheels looked nice on them and they all looked like they'd been modded by rednecks; everything had nasty, heavy-looking wheels with big, tacky, color matched lips until I found your car.

Anyways, i picked my Z06 over an E92 M3 back in January. I test drove 7 E92 M3s and none satisfied my needs. I came over from a 300whp E46 M3 and found E92 to be fairly slow.

Here is how my car looks now and come winter time im doing interior..

You sound terrible in this post. Most people don't show up to corporate events to brag either. Modesty at the work place is a very respectable thing. Especially if your being paid more than all of your co workers and/or employees who work for you.

Agreed. I was attempting to make a statement about the possible image that a car connotes, which was my opinion and I was trying to inject what was intended to be acerbic/sarcastic humor (and was a poor attempt), so apologies for coming across as elitist. Also my comments weren't really relevant to the discussion at hand. My bro-in-law is a Z06 owner, I have driven it and thoroughly enjoyed it...it is indeed a fantastic car.

Not only an 80-100 HP bump over stock but the delivery is smooth as silk and better than stock. Best $2k I ever spent on a modification. If you add an exhaust, dyno's indicate 500 whp (600+ at the crank) on 93 octane.

Thanks for the kudos on the cars....I enjoyed every single one of them. My favorite from a performance standpoint is the 997 Turbo by a good bit over the C6Z06. Favorite from an all around standpoint (performance, fun, utility and technology) is the E92M3 by a mile.

For a weekend/track car (if you can ignore the crappy interior), it is a very hard car to beat from a performance and feel perspective. If I had a weekend toy (excluding the E36 M3) then a Z06 would be a prime candidate.
Hmmm might think on the GT-R .... it drives summer and winter and it is respected on road and track. Just sayin
