335i vs 350z....

My car 2007 335i stock (Steptronic) with Ultimate Racing HKS blowoff valve kit.
2007 350z: Had after market exhaust and I believe an intake &
6sp manual / 306hp & 268 ft lbs of TQ. Well it all goes down like this.

On the way home today from work I have a little spirted driving with the above mentioned 350z. We never did a heads up pull together.

We were both coming out of a turn on to a straight with him in front. He accelerates and I try to anticipate the jump. We both nail it at the same time. He pulls on me a half a car length more then it just stays that way for about a half a mile at which point we both chill out. What gives(and yes I know the blowoff valve does not make more power it just holds boost a lot better than the stock blowoff valves.) And of course he looks at me with this stupid grin on his face.

Actually the stock BOV holds boost just fine even if your running procede. But thats a totally different topic and different strokes for different folks.

The new Z is no joke. Specially since the 07's get the new VQ35HR and the manuals have a higher redline (7500k). Dont be fooled by those on the forum that believe the 335 is god and you can take any car out on the road.

Since you met up with this guy on the hwy. and really don't know what he has under the hood, I'm guessing he might have a plenum spacer, racing pullies, a CAI, an exhaust, and maybe a couple extra things for an extra ~ 20+HP/TQ...so a close race is possible between you and him if my guesses are accurate.

Just get the PROcede, and you'll be the one to give the "smarta$s grin" as you fly by him like he's standing still again, and again, and again!

Whats the big deal? His car had some mods. Probably more than just an exhaust and intake, but even stock...their are not slow and they probably wieght less.

07's are putting down 250-260 rwhp stock.. with a few mods it should give him another 5-10rhwp.. seeing how the car is about 200-300 lbs lighter.. it should be a dead even race vs a 280-290 rwhp car.

Punisher? you're local? do you remember anything visual about the car? alot of the z's around here are not stock. And when I say not stock, I mean they're running a whole lot more than exhaust and intake

350Z is no joke indeed esp. those 07 ones with 300+ hp. Like someone else just said, don't think your 335 is the king of the road.

precisely. there are at least 4-5 guys with sc'd or tt'd z's. A few of them tend to drive around together actually. Seeing 2 or 3 of them with intercoolers in your rearview mirror isnt exactly a pleasant site.

No, the HR (like in the '07 G35 Sedan) revs to 7,500 redline.

Did the 350z have a slight bulge on the hood? That's the only way of telling if it's got the new engine or not (an '07)...

On a side note, doesn't the 350z have a limited-slip diff?

Yes, the 350Z, G35, and G37 all have a LSD (but of course that doesn't help in straight line acceleration from a roll).
