How long have you sat in your M3?
After 2 years of ownership, I finally took my car on a long roadtrip (2500miles in 1 week). I did 16 hours straight driving home from St. Pete FL yesterday and was curious about other members... I definitely could've gone much further, the seats are very comfy! Only downside was stopping for fuel so often.

Maybe 3 hours. Plan on taking a road trip with my car that might be around 10+ hours. My e92 M3 is more comfortable than my moms F13 640i!

Last month I made the round trip drive to NYC (roughly 550 miles) with an hour long turn around so about 7 hrs actual driving time. My back was a little stiff but the most amazing thing was that I didn't turn the stereo on once.

I did several long trips, about 13 hr drive each way with 2 friends (I have E90), 2 full sized golf club bags in the trunk. Trip was great, comft front + rear seats.
I've had several cars + SUVs, but german cars/SUVs really do feel + drive solid especially on highways compared to Japanese car/suv. When I first got the car and did a long trip, even though I knew the characteristic of this engine, i was a bit surprised with the high rpm on 6th gear(6MT) around 80mpg (above 3000rpm). But wait till you drive a lancer evo 5MT...lol Oh, and I was surprised that with the stock exhaust, it's quiet as any other non-M 3 series on highway until you gas it (probably the reason why I still keep my stock exhaust because I love going on long trips with my M)

^ Must have been downhill the whole way
3 Hours for me, maybe my lumbar support isn't set properly but it wasn't super comfortable.

I drove straight from nyc to Florida and back in 3 days when I traded in my e93 for the e92 covering around ~2200 miles. Both cars were great highway cruisers that ate the miles seamlessly. However, it's not a trip I'd like to make again, at least not in a 3 day span.
Only complaint was the mpg, I got around 20-22 doing 70-75mph. Sure it's right around the epa estimate but on every one of my previous cars I got a lot higher when I do straight highway. Oh and my e93 burned a bit of oil while my e92 didn't burn a drop. Weird.

Ahhhh... Camarillo to San Diego once after I bought the car a 3 hr drive home. San Diego to Palm Springs once... 1.5 hrs weekend getaway, 7 days round trip from San Diego to my hometown Oakville, Ontario (GTA) back to sunny San Diego for the hell of it. Great drive won't do it again but great driving experience.

I did a 15 hour road trip in my M3 immediately after swapping out the rod bearings and having the Bilstein B16 coilovers with EDC settings.
Wife thought I put the stock suspension back on for the roadtrip... In reality I set the car lower than the swift springs I had. The seats where very comfortable. Non fatiguing at all. As soon as we got to Portland we where very refreshed after driving for 15 hours straight. The good thing is that the the gas tank was about as big as my bladder so bathroom stops and fuel timed together perfectly. |

I purchased my M3 interstate. This is in Australia. Drove the car back from Melbourne to Sydney and it took 9 hours total drive time with a few pit stops for lunch and patrol.
even though the car had full service history and just recently been checked by BMW dealer by previous owner, it still was a nervous drive back.. The car performed like a champ and no issues what so ever. It probably did a good run to clean up the engine. I don't think the car will do another long drive like this ever again in my ownership. |

Laguna Seca to Houston in two days. Back to back 16 hr days two years ago. I don't ever want to do that again regardless of how comfy the seats are. I must be getting old....
