2013 e92 M3 - vehicle history - indication of more issues to come?
Hi guys,
I'm looking to buy a 2013 e92 M3 from an individual from Quebec, Canada. I have received the full BMW service history form the owner, and I'd like to ask if you think any of these are a potential sign for trouble. I don't see any major issues with the vehicle, but too many minor stuff here and there. The service history from BMW(BMW Canbec) was provided in French, so I had to do the translation. I couldn't really translate one or two items, so I've just copy and pasted the line I got from Google Please have a look and let me know if you guys feel I should forgo this vehicle for any reason. Thanks, ----------------BMW Service History------------ Apr 29, 2013 complete license plate holes covered before sending by fred May 21, 2013 2000km Inspection. replace transmission and differential fluid. -> 200km inspection done. The rear subframe is a strange one.
Other than that, be careful of Quebec cars. Almost every single one I've seen is beat up, it seems as if those people just don't give a shit about their cars over there |

I'm aware of the issues with Quebec vehicles, so I tend to stay away from them. However, above records are straight from BMW dealership, so I want to give this one a shot.
Most of the service history is minor, but as you mentioned, rear subframe issue is very strange and something that I'm not too familiar with as well. Any other feedbacks would be much appreciated |

If it still has warranty and you plan on getting extended warranty why not? Sub frame is weird. I would ask the owner if he tracked it or pushed it hard and go from their. Everything else is minor. I've had to bring my M3 within 4 months of ownership to the service center dealer like 6 times not because of it being bad, but the service center replaced parts that didn't fix the issue but eventually did. Not really complaining because I got a new air intake for free out of it.

Subframe stuff is troubling (was the guy drag racing this car?)....and the entry below is also worrisome. What does the CarFax say (if they have that in Canada)? Personally... just based on the info you put in your original post I would pass on this car.
Dec 16, 2014 Vehicle Under Cover - Front End is broken. -> replaced Fender cover on the right front end is broken. -> replaced Replaced 4 tires Adjust levels of all fluids. Engine Under Cover is broken. -> Engine Under Cover replaced

Walk away...no ...RUN!
Best bet would be to get the Carly OBD2 reader tool, that almost everyone on here has. OBD2 adapters will be in stock ( amazon ) by the end of march 2016. Not that you can read & clear check engine lights that ocassionally tend to pop up, you can even code with it along with...(childsplay) and now comes the hammer, the absolute hammer: You can also check pre owner history, how was the pre owner driving habbit? VIN check ( stolen car registry ) Odo Check ( manipulation warning and true odometer readout) Dont forget to use the 5 Euro coupon code: 4ZECQD when ordering over the ivini-tech.de site. US/UK/CD/ You can also order over amazon but first need to send an email to trainer@mycarly.com containing the 5 Euro coupon code: 4ZECQD Let them know in your email, you'd like to order over amazon Then Carly headquarters from munich will send you an special 5 Euro coupon code for amazon. The mentioned functions above work with nothing but just an app update, so everyone already beeing in posession of an Carly OBD2 WIFI adapter, should also run update on his/ hers to benefit from these FREE features. Cautious of translations in Quebec. Quite the list of issues, I've got a 2010 e92 M3 still and no problems noted other than the general wear and tear. Potentially the vehicle was tracked, or used in Baja off-roading.

I don't see anything too out of the ordinary other than the subframe. But it was changed at the dealer so I'm sure it's fine.
Mine had its transmission and differential replaced under warranty prior to me owning it. Didn't scare me away. I saw it as a bonus. Also, my car is originally from Quebec and is in excellent shape. So, totally depends who owned it. Last edited by doogee; 03-23-2016 at 01:20 PM.. |

That rear sub frame sounds like a ground clearance issue. Most cars can clear large road debris but not an M3 especially with ZCP. The felt bottom covers catch most of the hell but large stuff can reek havoc further back.

Interesting, mine was replaced around 19k mi according to service records. Obviously didn't stop me from buying the car either. I'd have to check the records, but I think it had something to do with vibration in the input shaft or something like that. Do you know why yours was replaced?

Thanks so much for your input guys.
I'm currently on the fence of running away from the vehicle or asking for PPI + offer. Hope to see some more feedback to help me with the decision. |

Subframe replacement is the first I have heard of yet... Although BMW dealerships love to replace shit that isn't really broken through the warranty period cause Daddy BMWNA pays for it...
