4 audible beeps...no message..help?

I have been hearing 4 successive audible beeps while driving. No messages are showing in the instrument cluster or NAV screen. The beeps seem to come at random times. Looked in the manual, couldn't find anything. Any ideas?

How random? There is an hourly chime that is set in the iDrive. Go to settings and make sure it is turned off...

hourly chime...maybe that is it. maybe not as random as I thought. I will check it out. Maybe I set something when I was changing the time for daylight savings last month. If not, will have the dealer scan. thanks to the both of you!

Is there a way to get it to Chime when you hit the M button?

Not a chime, but you can get an audible confirmation of M mode by flooring the gas pedal.

Perhaps a friend of yours dropped one of these into your car?

I have to say, I've bought a couple of these over the last few years. They are awesome. What's even better is that once your "victim" has discovered it, and I've come clean about it, then the victim won't return it -- they deposit it on some other unsuspecting soul...and the cycle begins anew.

You just can't get more entertainment for months with less than $15.00

Under:

"BMW M3 self-destruction initialization sequence: initiation "

I think the next line is "step away from the car"

OR
the less likely reason (also the less awesome reason)...

the hourly beep in the idrive

or what he's saying

oh my God yes! I took a long drive yesterday, like 4 hours total, I am saying "what the hell is that?" My wife and son are shaking their heads at me, thinking there is something wrong with me. Funny it is a hourly beep!

OMG, bumping an old post, but have to say, this has happened to me three times now out of nowhere so I was freaking out a little! Glad to hear it is just the hourly beep. I can't believe how something that is supposed to be helpful ended up scaring the crap out of me. Thinking something was going out lol.
